I can totally see where you're coming from with all the American stereotypes, but I don't agree with the whole way more Christians than atheists thing. I live in the village of Fort Plain. It is a small town in NY. Easily 90% of the people could be classified as rednecks and trailer trash. A hell of a lot of them live off unemployment, disability, etc. and do nothing with their lives. You characterize small towns and backwards people with being Christians. I would have to disagree. Ours is a primarily atheist and non-practicing "Christian" town. In fact, the church I attend has had to merge with two others, and there are still barely enough people to keep it open. What would seem odd to you is that a fair amount of the more educated people around here are Christian. My science teacher is probably atheist, but I'm pretty sure my one last year was agnostic. As far as "one nation under God" goes, I'd say it's more of a tradition now. We're not going to change our national anthem to please the minority that are offended by it. If I didn't agree with that line, I wouldn't say it.

Just as your U.S. stereotypes are all over the web so are those about all the 'nanny-state' like practices of the British government. Since you have so much time on your hands, I am sure you are quite able to look them up.TornadoCreator wrote: Really? When?
The government hasn't dug into my personal freedoms at all... ever.
I'd love to hear which personal freedoms they're digging into and which aspects of my daily life they're controling because one thing I can say is you actually are ignorant of the UK and have no idea what you're talking about, evident by this statement.

What? Nothing is more hated in the USA than an atheist. Women, gays, blacks, Jews, Mexicans, Chinese, you name it. The atheist is by far the most hated person. Face it, this country is totally fucked up.Lone Wanderer wrote:I can totally see where you're coming from with all the American stereotypes, but I don't agree with the whole way more Christians than atheists thing. 4 times, spent a total of 2 months in your country... how long have you spent in the UK?BoringSupreez wrote:You've never been to the US, have you?TornadoCreator wrote:USA is a self-absorbed country filled with arrogant people convinced their country is "number 1". They're generally uneducated, racist, extremely homophobic and the further south you go the more stupid, racist and homophobic they get.
You hate communism because you know that it's a political stance based around the concepts of equality, sharing and community (hense communism). Fair enough... I'd love to hear why...BoringSupreez wrote:I don't know about other people, but I hate it because I know what it is.They seem to think communism is evil, even though most of them have no idea what it is.
Wow, you really are a brainwashed Republican aren't you... I won't waste my time explaining why the Republican party giving tax breaks to the rich yet denying you universal healthcare is bad for you, because something tell me I'd have more luck talking to a vanilla sponge.BoringSupreez wrote:Oh, like the welfare state that the Democrats want to create is so good for the poor. The Republican goal is to help the poor help themselves, rather than create parasites leaching off of the rest of us.All the working class vote Republican even though that party clearly stabs the poor in the back.
That's nice to know, but what about ancient cultures, Greeks, Romans, Egyptians etc. do you learn about them? Do you learn about the French Revolution? The Spanish Inquisition? The Jin Dynasty of China? The formation and collapse of the Ottoman Empire? The absorbtion of the North Caucasus into the Russian Empire? The advances of the Renaissance? etc...BoringSupreez wrote:British Literature is a required course in our high schools, at least in Missouri. And we are far from the most xenophobic nation out there. Multiculturalism has been getting more and more popular here with time. They're ignorant of foreign cultures and customs, obsessed with an isolating USA only mentality and they're extremely xenophobic.
USA was once a British colony and you speak English, it takes the least effort to learn English Literature and even then I bet you learn nothing but Shakespeare, Dickins, Orwell and the two Bronté's right. If I'm wrong great, I'd love to be wrong here and to find that actually all forms of literature and history are respected and taught, but your entertainment media seems to claim otherwise.
Nothing. But when you have things called the "World Series" which is an annual sports event where the American League (USA) and the National League (USA) compete to see who's the best in baseball... and no-one outside USA even takes part, that's when you look exceptionally arrogant. When we play the "World Cup" in football, practically every country in the world takes part.BoringSupreez wrote:What's wrong with liking what we have the best? No one's forcing you to watch our version of football anyhow. They prop up sports like Basketball, Baseball and NFL which no-one outside USA gives a shit about whilst ignoring international sports like Football which they simply don't understand.
OK, fair enough, there are some awful remakes out there like Turkish Star Wars, but USA still disrespects other media. In USA you only seem to watch TV in English. The very concept of going to French, German or Italian film in those languages is laughable to most Americans. The concept of subtitles seems alien and god forbid you actually know another language. The only thing that seems to be the exception is Animé. Even some of USA's best loved shows are remakes, hell you even remake English shows and they're not even in a foreign language. Stanford & Son is a perfect example. It's a remake of the British TV show Steptoe & Son and seems to have completely missed the point. It's lost it's dry wit and self-depricating humour and instead made the main characters black just to put in race-based canned comedy and that's considered a classic. I once saw the American remake of Red Dwarf... that was depressing.BoringSupreez wrote:They disrespect other peoples media, expecting us to buy hollywood blockbusters but remaking every foreign film and TV show because they're convinced they can do them better, which they never do.
Hollywood creates the best movies, from what I've seen. If it weren't so, foreign countries wouldn't buy our movies, they'd watch their own. And we don't remake every good foreign movie. And remakes are not exclusive to the US; Thailand has their own version of The Fugitive (or maybe it was the Philippines), and then there's always Turkish Star Wars.
Yeah, but you knowingly export films to the rest of the world where the inspirational speeches all end "God bless America" and it's supposed to touch us, but outside USA it sounds about as comical as when Jim Sterling says "Thank God For Me" at the end of the Jimquisition on The Escapist.BoringSupreez wrote:Americans are concerned first and foremost with their own nation. Pretty much every nation is like that.To top it all off, they're rediculously, even offensively Christian saying things like "God bless America" as if they're the only people in the world who are worth considering.
True...BoringSupreez wrote:I have never met a single Christian who expected non-Christians to respect Jesus, although I admit that doesn't have to be representative of all of them. And it's inevitable that Christians and atheists will collide; their ideas about life and how it should be lived are in direct opposition. They're rediculously ignorant, they deny evolution, refuse sex education and insist on inserting God into everything. They treat Atheists like they're cultists and treat other religions like they're delusional yet expect us to always respect Jesus.
The scientists that's who. There's no such thing as "groups of thought" or different "viewpoints". There's science and there's bullshit. You teach science in school, you teach bullshit in church. Simple. If you disagree, you're a fool.BoringSupreez wrote:So it's wrong that we have schools that cater to every group of thought? We should only teach one viewpoint? Who's even qualified to decide what the absolute truth concerning science and government anyway?Lastly USA is filled with liars. They have universities devoted to "creation science", psychics, alternative medicine and endless superstitions and conspiracy theories.
True, but I've read you're constitution and guess what... the Liberals are right. Plus the Liberals always seem more willing to negotiate and compromise, something I actually wish they'd do a lot less.BoringSupreez wrote:Everyones opinion is expected to be treated as though it's "equal" and science if given no respect, unless your opinion is "liberal" at which point your ignored and labelled anti-American.
Liberals do the exact same thing to conservatives.
I've seen scientific papers come out of America claiming gay people can be cured, dinosaurs are only 4,000 years old, and radiometric dating doesn't work. Look up "Patriot University", it's sickening what gets past some American peer review journals and it means all journals now have to contend with being constantly scrutinised because there are people out there that'll publish anything.BoringSupreez wrote:You are wrong about the scientists and the politicians, but I actually agree with you about our news-media. In fact, over 50% of people here are distrustful of it.Their scientists are never reliable, their politicians are always scapegoats and their news-media is purposefully dishonest to the point of propaganda.
All in all... like I said, I'm aware that everything I said is a stereotype, but the thing about stereotypes is they're so frequently based in truth with only minor embelishments

Re: Do you really care about video games?
You are atheist I presume? All the Christians I know don't hate atheists. In fact I'd say it's generally an atheist thing to claim that Christians are dicks to them all the time. My best friend is atheist. His mentality is pretty much that his way is superior and everyone else are fools, nevermind the fact that he was Christian beforehand. Sure, I know Christians who think theirs is the only way, but they don't go around shoving it in people's faces like most atheists I've seen do.Inazuma wrote:What? Saw a pole on CNN. Atheists are only the second most distrusted. The mantel of most distrusted now belongs to the Tea Party.Inazuma wrote:What? Nothing is more hated in the USA than an atheist. You are violating a rule of the game, you are violating a rule of the online service, which is distinct from the rules of the game.Inazuma wrote:If you read the the TOS for any of the older MMOs, most of them should have a rule against RMT. Obviously the modern MMOs who do it themselves wouldn't have a rule against it.MrPopo wrote: You dodged the question. What rule was it against?
