I think it's fair to say at this point that we have entirely fundamentally different world-views. We value different things and we will never convince eachother that the other is correct. I stand by my position that what I say is morally correct and I consider it a fundamental part of humanity but I feel at this point I'm only going to end up getting more upset and likely offend others in the process. It's hard enough for me to contain my frustrations day to day as it is, as I'm sure you can imagine, like I said earlier I don't see my specialist until November. I still have chronic fatigue and chronic pain, daily dislocations and the inability to really do much outside of focus on the internet. If I allow myself I'll get absorbed by this argument and that's no good for anyone. If you don't mind I'd like to take a step back, agree to disagree.

I'd still like to discuss this point though, taking ideals out of the equation, I feel I can reasonably make an argument for socialism from an entirely practical utilitarian position. I believe I can show that socialism as an ecconomic system would improve the quality of life of pretty much everyone except the top 2% financially speaking in USA if adopted. If you give me a little time I'll collect up the sources I'll use and explain my case, and I will attempt to keep my personal opinions aside for this.

If you truly believe this, you are uninformed and delusional.
I wish I could find the video on YouTube now of the anti-"obama-care" Republican rally where a bunch of right wing thugs are threatening a bunch of disabled people silently protesting with signs saying things like "Why should I suffer?" and "Universal healthcare could save my life". The thugs where shouting at them saying how they should "hurry up and die", "stop spending our money", "you're all worthless leaching scum" and the like. There's a 30 second segment of a guy with a think southern drawl shouting "why should I pay for leaches like you" and spitting on a blind man in a wheelchair while all his Republican friends laugh, (and yes they're waving around Republican banners etc).... yeah, I believe that Republicans are sick, selfish people without any compassion whatsoever. I honestly think if I was in America people would just watch me die and not care, and people wonder why I don't like America.

You're kind of making broad generalizations based on a handful of people's actions. Although the actions you describe are deplorable, they hardly represent the behavior of all Americans or even all Republicans.

Oh, I've seen it. But all the WoW stuff? That's silly cosmetic things. All the best gear by definition cannot be sold except through selling of an entire account. You literally cannot transfer it to another character because it gets bound to that character. But the prices of Diablo III items? They might be super high initially but the market will drive the prices down as more items are dropped.

MrPopo wrote:You are HIGHLY inflating what the prices of these items will be. And again, if you want the best gear in Diablo II the only RELIABLE way to get it is to pay money. It is no different than Diablo III. If you want go get items in Diablo II or Diablo III without taking money from your wallet and giving it to some guy is to farm up some items that you can convert into the trade currency and use that to get the items you want. It is the exact same thing.
It is not the same thing. You have to cheat if you want to do that in Diablo II. I dunno about you, but I think cheating in online games is terrible. I don't do it. If you have to cheat to win in an online game, you are a fucking loser. You didn't truly win. You should be ashamed of yourself.

The item prices will be absurdly high. Do you have any idea how many people will play Diablo III? And it's a fucking auction system, so the highest bidder will win. If you want to buy anything good, be prepared to spend a ton of fucking money on it. None of the good items will be traded for gold. They will only be sold for real money. Gold will only be used on worthless shit.

Diablo III is gonna be such a massive fucking failure (as a game).

you are then making the assumption that all Americans are represented by these people. Thats like me seeing a British serial killer or rapist on youtube and then saying well you are like him as well.

You are the king of straw man arguments

Explain how it is cheating. You are acquiring the items from someone who had the item drop for them. At no time did you do anything to compromise the Battle.net servers to give yourself the item illicitly. It is no more cheating than it would be cheating for your buddy to give you this awesome item that dropped for him that he doesn't need.

Yes, I know how many people will play Diablo III. That same number of people will also be having items dropping for them, which will increase the supply. The item supply and demand should be a constant ratio regardless of the number of people playing because item drops are percentage based.

And yes, it is an auction. But I suspect that the majority of items will be sold with a buy it now price. You know why I feel that way? I saw the exact same thing in World of Warcraft using the in-game currency. Auctions with no buyout don't get as much attention as gamers want their item now, or they want to be guarenteed that they'll get their item.

And sure, the best items won't be sold for the in-game gold. But I bet you'll see people trading them for other good items in the chat channels.

Clearly, though, I can't convince you that your doom and gloom is unfounded. But that's probably for the best. I've found that people who can't have fun unless they're winning aren't enjoyable to game with.

Generally speaking, Americans and people in general are selfish moronic assholes. That's why this planet is doomed and everything only gets worse.

It is set up so people are just smart enough to do their job, but not smart enough to question authority or think for themselves. If you have too many smart people, they may overthrow the corrupt leaders. We have very little "rights", which can be taken away at any time. It's all bullshit. Most people either don't realize it or refuse to look at it.

When someone talks about the truth or tries to educate others, they are attacked by all of the ignorant fuckers. It is nearly impossible to actually get through to these sheep and it only makes things worse by trying to help them.

Still, it is very admirable to care about others and have desire for things to improve, even if it'll never happen. I have a lot of respect for people like that, such as TornadoCreator. It is very sad how badly he is treated. He reaches out a hand to help others, only to have it severed by a mob of ignornant selfish fools.

This thread overall is pretty sad. There is a huge lack of desire to improve things and do what's best for everyone. I'd like to say I am disappointed in many of the people here, but this is completely normal behavior. I am just sad, I guess. I want to see more people start giving a fuck about all of bullshit in the world, and to start actually caring about other people.

Are you kidding me? He went on a mad rampage slinging insults and you feel bad for how he is treated? I didnt insult him, but merely made a few comments vaguely referring some political stances, then he has a venemous response.

You are also on some moral high horse. I love how we have all these moral crusaders sitting around bitching about people on a video game forum instead of 'saving the world' or 'enlightening the sheep'.

I consider myself a very intelligent person who processes information and fully thinks for himself thank you very much. Just because people have different life experiences and believe differently than you or tornadocreator are automatically idiots, morons, sheep and on and on, without considering people just have different perspectives on life.

Not everyone wants to believe in this nihilistic philosophy and the oh we are doomed mentality. I feel bad for you two as you both must go around life all the time as miserable people.
