I give up, I really do. I may just close my account altogether. Wipe your ass w/ the fucking seperate sites and billing.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

I've formed an opinion about this now. I think it sucks. If I was a Netflix customer, I seriously would have canceled my account. Mostly for the 60% price increase. That's just too much of a price increase all at once. They really should have at least tried to increase the price slowly, preferably along with an increase in service.
They lost 1 million subs because of this, but how many subs did they have in total? I wouldn't be surprised if they are making more money overall, thanks to the fucking 60% price increase.
I do think its pretty cool how much people are complaining about this. This is the kind of thing we need to see in the games industry. When a company tries to pull bullshit like this, we should complain and also speak with our wallets. Gamers can learn a lot from movie and TV viewers.

I've had a headache thinking about Netflix in the past. When it was mostly DVDs only (as streaming was slowly being introduced) it was hard to justify keeping my account. I love to watch movies and TV shows. But you're paying for the service whether you use it or not. I wish I could just sit at home all day and watch TV, but unfortunately, I have a life. I've gone for a month at a time with out returning my current DVDs or using the streaming service, so basically I payed for a month here and there when I didn't use the service. I went from the 3 DVD plan down to 2, I might drop it another notch. The only way I was able to justify it was comparing it to paying for a TV service. You pay no matter how much or how little TV you watch. So I had to make that conscience decision, pay to keep the service so I can use it at my leisure. Even though there will be times I'm paying for something I'm not using.
And back when streaming was slowly building up, it made the decision easier. For the same price, I get what I already agreed to pay for PLUS streaming whenever I want. It was great. Now the shit they're pulling this year is putting me back in the same situation. Why am I paying for this if I'm not using it all the much?
I've thought hard about dropping Netflix. First choice, since they split it in two, would be to drop streaming, but dropping DVDs as well would be hard. The reason it would be hard is because NetFlix already put my local DVD rental places out of business. The one closest to my house closed a while back, along with the two I pass on the way to and from work. The closest one now is two towns over, which makes it a hassle if I wanna just go up and browse, possibly not renting anything. But I DO love movies and TV shows, and I can't afford to buy every DVD I wanna watch, so NetFlix has made itself almost mandatory for a person like me.
THAT'S what's not right about it!

I just get free new release movies at the library. I can reserve from the entire county and pick it up at the local branch after a que pops up stating the movie is ready. If I need a movie right away, the local Red Box vending machine is only a dollar.

What's great about NetFlix though is that they seem to have almost every DVD. Even independent movies that no ones ever heard of, they have them. Red Box is great, but only for new releases. But hell, even Blockbuster started to suck really bad with not having older movies. The reason I signed up for NetFlix in the first place was because My brother and I wanted to watch the Halloween movies. Blockbuster had the first two. Then when we went to rent the second two, we couldn't find them anywhere. Two local Blockbusters and a Hollywood video didn't have them. I was calling up Hollywood video once or twice a week because the status of part 3 and 4 were rented. I kept calling up and asking if they were returned yet. Finally the guy told me that they've been out for months and that they probably weren't ever going to be returned.
So then I searched Netflix, and they had them. I signed up for the two week free trail and got hooked.

Netflix not breaking in two after all
I prefer that Netflix not split, but gee, make up your mind!Email from Netflix I got today wrote:Dear ____,
It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.
This means no change: one website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster.
While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.
We're constantly improving our streaming selection. We've recently added hundreds of movies from Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax. Plus, in the last couple of weeks alone, we've added over 3,500 TV episodes from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History, and PBS.
We value you as a member, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get your movies & TV shows.
Respectfully,
The Netflix Team
