What's an RTS?
Real Time Strategy

Games like Age of empires, Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of mithology, etc.
Sorry, I was trying to be ironic.

With that being said, I've never been a huge fan of using acronyms unless I know the person I am talking to knows what I'm talking about. With *that* being said, internet communication has been reduced to acronyms, so I guess I'd better get used to it.

Sometimes acronyms become the popular meaning as opposed to what they stand for. For example, most people know what an ATM is but will have to think about it if you ask where you can find the nearest automated teller machine.

Actually, Activision copyrighted Defense of the Ancients, so Valve circumvented it by just calling the game DotA

Activision copyrighted Defense of the Ancients? What a bunch of dicks.

That explains why Blizzard was so wary of Valve calling the game Dota 2.
