This is true, Flying Swallow spam for the motherfuckin' win!Gamerforlife wrote:I still had a lot of fun with it though, and the upside to the game being so cheap is when you discover, fun, cheap tricks of your own to exploit against your enemies

Just got up to 6-3 for the first time, 6-2 isn't really that hard. I mean, it's easily the hardest stretch in the game, but not as hard as the internet would leave you to believe.

Re: Is Ninja Gaiden cheap or just unforgiving?
This thread encouraged me to get back into Ninja Gaiden, and I finally beat it. I still think it's cheap, even though I enjoyed myself (mostly). I had to fight the last boss several times and replay all of world 6 a lot because I just couldn't get the hang of his second form at all. In the end I managed to beat 6-3 on one life, bringing the spin attack with me in order to kill him in only 2 hits. Form 3 was nice and easy thankfully.

man I had a load of fun on NG, but the problem was the respawning enemies and the fact that taking a hit also made you jump backwards. Balls to anyone who said they beat it without a hitch or game genie when they were 6 or whatever. I always hate hearing liars like that. "I've beaten Halo on legendary without dying or running out of ammo." No...You didn't.

Dude, I don't know what you're talking about. I beat this game when I was 4 and I was blind back then!
When I was a youngster, I probably would have sucked major at Ninja Gaiden. But now, like I said, I only played it for the first time two days ago and I already got up to the second form of the last boss. Cheap, unforgiving, whatever. But it's definitely not hard to beat. It just takes a little effort.

I find myself drinking heavily when engaging in the NG series on NES and Battletoads.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

HAH! I am as old school as probably very few of you are, there are loads of NES memories of eating lil smokies and drinking orange Crush while parked in the basement. I go back and can whip through games I used to get frustrated over. I was half drunk at the neighbor's at their kids have a WII and they just downloaded this AWESOME new game called Super Mario Bros. NES... Cripes, I was all, "Hey kids, wanna see me beat this in 10 minutes?" Warp, Warp, done.
It's just the cranky old gamer in me, but seriously, I doubt someone when they tell me the beat Ocarina of Time in Kindergarten. Its not like it was terribly difficult, but usually you dont learn to read until first grade...

Yeah, I always take it with a pinch of salt. That said, I reckon I was about 7 when I first managed to beat a video game. It was Golden Axe (at least I think that was my first game I ever beat) and I was pretty excited. I'm totally sure I even understood video games HAD an ending up to that pointweaponepsilon wrote:Ziggy587 wrote:Dude, I don't know what you're talking about. Re: Is Ninja Gaiden cheap or just unforgiving?
Just died against the second form of the last boss again. 6-2 really isn't that hard. There's just ONE part that I really suck at. The part (in the second room of 6-2, I think) where the birds are flying at you and the dude is tossing those sticks at you from a platform you have to jump to. Other than that ONE part, it's not so bad.
I really suck at the second form. The first form is easy. And from what I've seen in YouTube videos, the third form looks really easy. So I just need to not suck at the second form and I'll be able to beat this game.
Anyways, level 6 is to Ninja Gaiden as level 6 is to Castlevania, if you know what I mean. Much different styles of platforming, but the same kind of hardness for the last levels in comparison to the rest of those games.
