Sega Master System version of Strider

Post by arion »

I have been wondering ever since i bought that game is it possible to beat the level 1 boss ?

And to add even more to the mystery the screenshots from the game on the back of the cover only show level 1.

So has anyone here beaten the first level boss of strider and if so how ?

I don't think it's common practice to make the first level of a video game unbeatable.

A quick youtube search for "sms strider" found a video of someone playing through the first 2 stages....

But there is no way to avoid taking damage well i guess i just have to be careful in the level then. Still i think it's fair to say that this port of strider is not as good as it could be.

The PS1 version is quite nice (bundled with Strider 2).
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

You can thank Tiertex for that. They weren't exactly known for doing good arcade ports, and SMS Strider is no exception.

I have personally gotten past stage 1 on SMS Strider... on an emulator, no less (I don't use save states or things like that). I only did it so I could grab a screen shots for comparison purposes for an old Strider review I wrote. It was an abysmal game. It had no right being released like that.

PC Engine version is pretty good.
