I'd buy a Super Sega Neptune CD. Plays SMS, Genny, 32X, SCD, Saturn, and Dreamcast games in one go. It could also have it's own nuclear generator to power it! When you turn it on it would be like when the Griswolds turn on their Christmas lights!Croooow! wrote:I'm still waiting for Sega to release a disc system clone combo that plays Sega CD, Saturn, and Dreamcast games. See, I was thinking it would run off of 5 or 6 powerbricks.Betamax001 wrote:I'd buy a Super Sega Neptune CD. Plays SMS, Genny, 32X, SCD, Saturn, and Dreamcast games in one go. Older. Not wiser.
Re: Any Chance For Disc-Based System Clones?
Even if they could make clones for the PS1, Saturn, N64, Dreamcast, etc., they would have to break the law to do it. However, if they wait 20 years, they could release them in the USA legally. At the end of the year 2016, we will start to see unlicensed N64 clones come out in the USA.
I think this has to do with patents. There is a 20 year rule and then anyone is free to make their own systems. Also, if it is too hard for them to get something like the emotion engine, they can just go with emulation. It shouldn't be too hard to do after 20 years.

It does. It is just a DC in a special shell with a screen attached. Basically is is a factory made professional mod.D.D.D. wrote:Coulda sworn the Treamcast had DC guts in their Treamcast shell + LCD... Dunno for sure though.Lone Wanderer wrote:Well there's the treamcast

That assumes there will be a market for it. N64s are still quite cheap, one can get one off Ebay for $25 anytime.Inazuma wrote:Even if they could make clones for the PS1, Saturn, N64, Dreamcast, etc., they would have to break the law to do it. I was thinking about a portable one, that could also do TV-out. There is certainly a large market for that.BoringSupreez wrote:That assumes there will be a market for it. I found this:

To be honest, I'm not sure what it is. Does it play PS1 games? Does it even play discs? I have no idea.

party of me is tempted to buy it just to find out... but 75 bucks is WAY too steep for that.
Re: Any Chance For Disc-Based System Clones?
I don't really see a large market for it now, much less in 4-5 years. Between the inevitable milking of the N64 port cash-cow on the 3DS, and the simple fact that the system can already be emulated fairly well on smartphones/tablets today, I just don't see demand rising.Inazuma wrote: I was thinking about a portable one, that could also do TV-out. For a niche market, maybe, but my assumption there would be more towards integrating upscalers/digital video output in the event that TVs stop including older inputs.

seems to be a ps1 emulator machine and can play ISOs from a SD or HDD based on this linkin the descriptionAppleQueso wrote:party of me is tempted to buy it just to find out... but 75 bucks is WAY too steep for that.
