Recurring Gaming Habits

Post by TheyCallMeTheSwede »

I have seen threads in the past based on gaming habits (mostly bad ones), but there is something I notice lately and it lasted for over 10 years. I have notice that nearly every wrestling game ever made, since they started having CAWs, Every year, since Wrestlemania 2000 for the N64, I have always created this one character in the games, which basically the most simple character, wearing a Black T-shirt, Camo pants, Black long hair, a beard with a simple name...and his name was Chainsaw, somehow, I have always been attached to this character, and since then every year when there is a CAW feature, I would make that character first, and as I get older and the game gets more deep the creation feature, my creativity pretty much expanded beyond belief, I pretty much made this simple character to a deep complex character, ie, he had a rival, a friend, a girlfriend that would escort him to the ring, and gave him a full name "Chainsaw" Charlie Romaro. Since SVR11 has a character feature, I wanted to make a storyline based on this character...but I did not know what to do, then I figure, I am going to make a retirement storyline on him since my interest of wrestling games is pretty much on life support and I have since make better characters (that I also made over the years that I still make), plus he was the oldest character that I have ever made.

So yeah, anybody got some recurring gaming habits that would like to share?

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to watch The Wrestler.

I'm really OCD about inventory management. lol
(in games where you can rearrange it yourself, like RE4, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, etc)

I always play with the exact same looking guy every time I play KOTOR, but that's as far as I go. I like the hero to have a definite, unchanging look. I mean, how would you like it if Indiana Jones was played by a different actor in each movie?

Lately I've been more bent on collecting games than playing them, and I can't control it.
Anyone else have this problem?

I hate games that track your deaths and failures. I obsessed over keeping my deaths at zero in Resident Evil 5, which is funny in retrospect as I didn't even like the game much. I'll probably do the same if I ever get back to playing Dead Nation

I got 100% in Grand Theft Auto Vice City while making sure that I had zero hospital visits and arrests on my stats. I'm a perfectionist. Not a life choice I'd recommend to others

I think many of us have this - it ebbs and flows though.

Sometimes i'm more into the selling/buying/trading.
Sometimes i'm more into the collecting/arranging/accessorizing/displaying.
Sometimes i'm actually in it for the games.

Right now i'm playing more than I have since I was probably 15, so its nice. 18 months ago I spend 90% of my video game time collecting and then displaying and only 10% actually playing. So yeah, it comes and goes.

A microcosm - i've owned Contra for NES 8 or possibly 9 times in the last 2 years, at one point I had 3 copies - currently I have 0 copies. I have not played it since I was 12-13 years old, so, yeah - part of the hobby. Oh, and I really want to play Contra right now.
