For Noise and whomever else: Game Boy/Color Cart Question

Post by o.pwuaioc »

I own Revelations: Demon Slayer for the Game Boy Color, and yet I noticed that the cart looks like the original Game Boy games, and it doesn't even have "Color" anywhere. Is this typical for Atlus games, for many games? Is this totally atypical? Are there more?

when you say it "looks like the original Game Boy games"... is the cart gray or black? If it's gray I'm going to pretty much guess it's a bootleg.

Black, and I guess I should have mentioned that. Now that you ask, though, black carts without the "Color" label sound familiar as something that was common enough.

Edit:
Oops, thanks. That's why it sounds familiar. I'm sure I read that before. Thanks!

yeah about half GBC games are black carts. These are backwards compatible with original GB hardware.

That's a good number. I had no idea. I need to start getting more GBC games.

GBC certainly had a nice library. When you get into the clear cartridges, it's really like discoving a whole new NES library that you didn't know about.

I love how the black carts are compatible for both the systems. Even better the fact that you can unlock extras while playing on the GBC. Right now I'm playing Links Awakening on the GBC and just cleared the bonus "colored" dungeon, picking up a perk I wouldn't have obtained playing on a Game Boy. That's awesome, don't you think? Reminds me, Ive got to see if it carries over if I were to load it up on my Game Boy.
