What brand TVs are these? I've used the same SNES on a 13" & 27" Mitsubishi, a 25"ish GE, a 28" Sony, a 25" Sharp, and a 32" Sony and never had that issue. :?

And the same line up the center on all of those??

Yep. I've bought new cables and that did not help. The second SNES I bought has the same issue too and I'm not too crazy on buying a third one.

That picture isn't from my Super Nintendo, its from the thread at digitpress I linked to. However both my original SNES as well as the several minis I've come into contact with have all had that issue regardless of TV. I've had it on my 32in Toshiba CRT, my 14in Toshiba CRT, a 32in. RCA CRT, a 32in, Philips CRT, and a 42in Samsung Plasma.

I can only notice the line in certain instances, such as the Mine Cart Madness Stage in DKC. Basically only on a dark screen. Supposedly the issue does not occur on RGB, but I've been able to see in on composite or s-video. I have never checked RF, and I can't do that now since I've modded away that ability.

I usually only notice it when there's a dark screen too or a large section of a single color. FFVI especially in interior scenes like this:

In the other thead the guy supposes originally that its an issue with earlier video chips, however; this is disproven as some people have the issues with Minis as well. Then he supposed that its a cap issue. That may still be, but I've checked the caps in my mini, and wasn't a fix. I suppose its possible that its an issue with certain TVs with certain SNESes.

It really depends upon the CRT TV, much like the jail bars on a NES/Toploader.

Some CRTs mask it so well one can barely tell. It depends upon the game, some do not show it, others show it mercilessly. That Super Metroid is a great example and should be the one people use to test.

Could be a calibration issue as to why it is harder to see. I noticed as you change contrast/brightness it can be harder to see.

I just did some tests using DKC in the second world, which has lots of dark areas. It is much more visible when moving, however; if you turn your brightness (and cell light, if applicable) all the way up it will be much more visible. It does seem to fade slightly when motion stops. I could not notice it standing still until I turned the brightness completely up. A calibration of settings could help, however; I calibrated my brightness for my gaming CRT based on OoT and MM brightness settings, and I used Video Essentials to calibrate the rest.

That's very weird. I've had a number of SNES over the years that I've used on a number of different TV. RF, composite, S-Video, never gotten this vertical line. Just luck of the draw?
