Your 10 most average games
Your 10 most average games
Everyone does top 10 favorites or 10 most hated lists. Won't someone please think of the middle of the bell curve? What would you choose as your most C average, middle of the road, neither here nor there, just passable games OF ALL TIME?

Re: Your 10 most average games
People need to stop with the COD hate, it's getting old.
Anyways this is my list:
Halo 2-3 (I love Reach, ODST and CE but 2 and 3 were incredibly dissapointing)
Fable II
Crysis
Left 4 Dead
Ninja Gaiden II
Final Fantasy III (Not VI)
Battlefield: BC 2
Dante's Inferno
Fear Effect
Banjo Kazooie

Re: Your 10 most average games
I think I should break this up by genre rather enumerating my top 10. Some of my choices may be controversial, since reasonable minds might argue that some of my choices are, in fact, good rather than average games.
Secondly, to my mind, "average" should mean a game that:
(1) doesn't pioneer or popularize a genre;
(2) doesn't introduce any new or novel ideas to the genre;
(3) utilizes the existing tropes and game mechanics of the genre effectively
Most average fighter: World Heroes 2 Jet
Most average beat-em-up: Final Fight (series)
Most average FPS: Halo / Call of Duty (tie)
Most average RPG, turn-based: Albert Odyssey
Most average RPG, strategy: Saiyuki Journey West
Most average Platformer, 2-D: Bonk (series)
Most average Platformer, 2.5-D: Klonoa Door to Phantomville
Most average Platformer, 3-D: Donkey Kong 64
Most average Survival Horror: Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Most average Racer: They're all pretty average to me.

Re: Your 10 most average games
The most average games. By average I'm assuming you mean the game equivalent of the "popcorn flick" movie. The not particularly great but still enjoyable games.
Well... I did a little experiment on Gamerankings.com which lists all game reviews and apparently the average rating for a game is a 7.6 out of 10.... which is stupd. 5 should be average, bloody rediculous.
As for my average games. it's hard to say really but I'd probably say as follows, including the system I played them on.
Average Brawlers/Hack n Slash - X-Men: The Official Game on PS2/Splatterhouse on Xbox 360.
Average RPG - Breath Of Fire 3 on PSP
Average 3D Platformer - Tak 2: Staff Of Dreams on Gamecube
Average 2D Platformer - Rayman on Saturn/Ristar on Mega Drive
Average FPS - Black on PS2/Dark Sector on PC
I'd have to say, the most average game I've ever played though is Fable on the Xbox... that's exactly where I'd put my 5 out of 10 rating. It was enjoyable enough, I played it though but it was exactly middle of the road. it didn't excite me nor did it disappoint me, it was a resounding Meh.

The Street Fighter series. I don't hate them, but I don't love them. I used to love them in the 90s, but that went away. I felt the same about Mortal Kombat games, but ever since the release of Arcade Kollection, the love is coming back. I LOVE MK1. I can play that for hours on end online. I digress.....
