For 1981, I would bring...
1. A DVD recorder (or Blu-Ray. take your pick)
2. Tons of Blank DVDs (or blank Blu-Rays, again take your pick)
3. Highest possible quality TV we have right now
4. A Laptop with Handbrake
5. and the Highest possible storage Harddrive
Why would I bring all this stuff do this you ask? my mission is to record everything, and I mean...EVERYTHING...well just select stuff like, Video game commercials, Wrestling stuff, TV specials, Music videos, to name a few. Pretty much what I would be doing is archiving stuff that I know will never ever be released on DVD, keep it to myself and make everything available to the world on bit torrent with the highest quality footage, be like the original Wrestlemania in its broadcast-like DVD quality and completely uncensored (no more of this silent the commentators when they utter the words WWF). Sure I am not doing anything profitable, but consider it doing charible work for the people that try to find that footage thats lost in the sands of time and that only they knew its existence, even if they did find it, it ends up being shit quality.

Pretty much any computing device from today would be more powerful than all the silicon in the world in 1981. It would be pretty easy to leverage that into any advantage you want.

I was gonna say that I would bring a desktop PC with 5 games for it, and then auction it off for billions of dollars.

I'm taking back some linux distros.

I would bring back an old Tandy or IBM home computer being sold for thousands at the time and sell it, then spend the money on a hooker straight out of 80's central casting, with spandex and big hair. Then I would track down those who have wronged me in the future and do terrible things to them.

I would bring back a Wii and sell it to Nintendo
I would bring back a Xbox 360 and Sell it to Microsoft
I would bring back a PS3 and sell it to Sony
I would bring back a 42 inch 3d tv and act like I invented it to run all new consoles on.
Then when I hit 84 when I was born I would leave notes for myself on which decisions to make so I can change things for the better in my life. I would also stop 9/11

A netbook with text files containing financial and stock information from 1981 until now, as well as files with election, contest, and sports events results. And then half of my information becomes useless after 3 years because I've drastically affected how things will turn out.
