I replaced the capacitors on a non TMSS model 1 Genesis to remove the rainbow banding, not only did it not remove the rainbow banding but I lost the Right channel from the headphone jack. The left channel works fine from the headphone jack, and the mono works fine from the back. The right channel has some very quiet, scratchy audio on some games, other games have no audio from the Right channel.
I've double checked that I used the correct capacitor uF values. Voltage wise I used caps that all exceeded the original ratings. I also have double checked polarity, it all is correct, and additionally I've checked continuity between the cap and the connected traces that is all correct.
I'm really stumped as to whats wrong here.

Maybe there was a bad cap in the bunch?...
Can you go back to how the console was originally?... If yes, I would try that first. See if that takes care of the audio channel problem...

Sounds like you double checked all the things I would have suggested. The only thing I can think of now is to suggest taking your multi meter and probing the right channel to try and find something. Start right at the headphones jack and work your way back, maybe you can find something that doesn't seem right. Or maybe trace it back to the caps that make up the stereo amp/mixer/whatever and put the original caps back in place there (assuming you kept the original caps).Jamisonia wrote:I've double checked that I used the correct capacitor uF values. I know you said you double checked everything, but you must have missed something. If the right audio channel worked before, now doesn't, it must have been something you did when replacing the caps. Right? So triple and quadruple check everything. Polarity and values. I can't tell you how many times I couldn't get something working, even when I double checked everything. Then notice something so obviously stupid... "HOW could I have missed that!?!?"
