I sort of agree with that.Damm64 wrote:That's all i can say. Wait one more thing... Majora's Mask rocks!
I just can't get into the 3D Legend of Zelda games; they do remind me of Zelda II, but I liked Zelda II's much more simplified aiming system than trying to figure out camera angles.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.

To be fair, the first game, and subsequently, the two games in Persona 2 followed significantly closer to the SMT formula, so if you were expecting a true SMT game, then you probably weren't going to find one in P3/4. There was a great sense of dread permeating the first half of the series that makes it fit more in line with its parent series; the character art was cold and lifeless, the music was bleak and hopeless [This is the battle theme, for example]: , and the world pretty much ends right at the beginning of the game [of the first game, at least].weasels wrote:First of All, all the persona games. for the first year or so i liked it a whole lot, mainly because i was in love with the Shin Megami Tensei games...then came the realization that the persona games were full of teen angst and happy times, unlike it's the rest of the SMT games...it was like if a emo tried to be dark and scary but could never really pull it off. then came frustration...then came over obsession from weaboo's....including my now ex-girlfriend. they made it seem as persona was the only part of the SMT series and the other games were only side stuff. then came the hate.

I think part of it is that I'm getting tired of FPS's in the first place. If it had been from an isometric perspective or 3rd person viewpoint, I think I would have been more forgiving of the game and give it more of a shot. Not sure if that makes any sense, but as Hobie said, so be it.KillerJuan77 wrote:I expected it to be a fun FPRPSG (First person role playing shooting gameHobie-wan wrote:If you expect it to be a like a mainstream console FPS, you will be disappointed. Re: Irrational hatred for a game?
I agree with lisalover, CFFJR, and BoringSupreez about the NES. I don't hate it, but the only reason why is this: I was too young when I first played it to be properly enraged by the difficulty of some its games. When you're four or five you're too enthralled with the magic of video games as a concept to get angry about, or even be aware of, poor gameplay design and mechanics. Back then I often stuck the Tecmo Bowl cartridge in just to listen to the opening music and considered that an excellent gaming session, or watched the endless loop of the Pac-Man demo on the laundromat's arcade cabinet, totally transfixed.
The thing with certain NES games like the first Super Mario Bros. is that they mix the difficulty of early arcade games with the objective of completion. For the average person, getting trounced by Joust or Donkey Kong is still fun because your only objective is to get as far as you can; you design and meet your own goals, so there is no real concept of being a failure at the game. But when a game is designed to be beaten, being a failure at that game can become a real feeling until you finish it. Thus, as a grown-up, the original Super Mario Bros. taunts me with its promise of an ending, is not enjoyable enough to me to justify my playing it without aiming to beat it, and laughs in my face with its frustrating difficulty. This is not fun.
That said, I really enjoyed pulling up turnips in Mario 2. And there's always Bubble Bobble.

Re: Irrational hatred for a game?
Maybe I'm the only one who's had trouble with this game? I always remember doing well and getting far, and then being destroyed all at once by something like the Hammer Bros. I also frequently messed up the timing on my running jumps on levels with balancing platforms, and felt that I was screwed if I didn't have fire power for certain Bowsers. I knew where certain warp zones were, but... hmmm. I just have a distinct feeling of unfairness and frustration, but now that I think of it, I can't remember the last time I seriously attempted the game.o.pwuaioc wrote:Difficulty? What difficulty?
So I suppose we just proved my dislike of this game is irrational.

I hate you Smash Bros because I can't play you as well as SF2, SS2, or any other real fighter...

Re: Irrational hatred for a game?
Nah, rethinking it, the Hammer Bros on level 8-4 (the one right before the final castle) always did give me great trouble. But then I played it so much I just got good. I suppose part of the reason is owning it for the GBC so I could replay problematic levels over and over again, hehe.Key-Glyph wrote:Maybe I'm the only one who's had trouble with this game?
