...I didn't insult anyone. I just wondered allowed why everyone was ignoring the premise of the entire bloody thread. I thought this would be the kind of thing this forum would really get into, but apparently not, you all want to make stupid one-liner jokes about time travel which are about as predictable as they come. The idea was predictable before it Back To The Future did it... now is it too much to ask that people actually discuss the original topic, or do I need to hear someone else say how they'd just go back with the lottery numbers for the first week of 1982 (without realising the lottery didn't start till the 90's)?BoringSupreez wrote:Dude, chill. Seriously can you guys not discuss an abstract concept without having to specifically ignore it or pick holes in it while simultaneously entirely missing the point?

Well, you made a bunch of rules which people would need to think about. You already had previous thoughts you said. It's only been a little over 3 hours since you posted. Others might not put as much thought into it that you have.TornadoCreator wrote: ...I didn't insult anyone. I just wondered allowed why everyone was ignoring the premise of the entire bloody thread. That's fine, I'm not expecting instant responses, I was just hoping people would find the concept interesting and it seemed like everyone just wanted to make jokes, hell I enjoy a joke as much as the next guy but it kinda felt like I was never going to get a proper response from anyone that's all. Maybe, once people have had a chance to think it over we'll get a good discussion going.Hobie-wan wrote:Well, you made a bunch of rules which people would need to think about. It's a good chance that there's not much actual discussion going on because your thread's little more than a variation on the "if you were trapped on a desert island..." idea.
It's just not really very interesting honestly.

Re: Time Travel - What would you take with you?
I've never thought of living out the rest of my life starting from 1981, but I have thought about bringing back modern games to my 1980's elementary school self. I would be the coolest kid in school. It is strange to think about what would impress me then from the modern day. Most of it would be too violent and come as a shock to the system. I was freaked out when I saw my first Mortal Kombat fatality and that's nothing compared to what we see regularly in games today. I think I would probably give myself some of the great RPGs I have now, but don't have the time for now. That way I would instantly have fond memories of playing them from my youth when my nice old future self brought them to me.

Oooooooh god. None of the TV's back then would work with a PS3 I'm guessing?
Alright then.
1- My PS2 (Great games and a DVD player)
2- Season 1 DVD of Spice and Wolf (I actually only own the Blu-ray for this, but I'd buy the DVD just for the trip.)
3- Season 2 DVD of Spice and Wolf
4- Complete series box set of Strawberry Panic
5- Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 (This isn't my favourite PS2 game, but it sure as hell has the most replay value of any of them.
All my games and anime... all gone...

Re: Time Travel - What would you take with you?
Oooh, that's a very interesting take on the idea. I never considered the whole "give them to my past self angle", hmmm, for that I'd probably want to give myself some of the games I missed out on. Games I didn't play until way into adulthood such as the Breath Of Fire series. Oh and I'd tell my past self not to give Mega Man: The Wily Wars up to help pay for the Sega Saturn. I got only £4 dammit...J T wrote:I've never thought of living out the rest of my life starting from 1981, but I have thought about bringing back modern games to my 1980's elementary school self. Well I posted earlier about my stock market idea, but now that you bring up the grade school scene, I would have been a god if I brought a PSP back to 4th grade in 1998.
Me: "Hey guys, I got this handheld playstation with graphics better than a Nintendo 64."
