Second of all, this is for ONE GAME, Monster Hunter 3G.
Third of all, Monster Hunter 3G isn't even getting a release outside of Japan.

So stop whining. Jesus. Besides, Capcom have said that you don't need the add on to play MH3G, it is playable with out, they just recommend that you use one for ease of use. (Did zero people notice that not only does it add a 2nd circle pad, it gives you 2 shoulder buttons and 2 triggers?) Is it international jump to conclusions day or something today?
Thanks for this, it seems like people just want to fully ignore what the attachment is all about.

There's nothing to ignore. Nintendo said that yes, that add-on will be a real thing. It's still just an add-on, the mock-up is still just a mock-up, and the majority of you are still jumping to dubious conclusions. I'm not aware of any point in history where Nintendo has preluded a console redesign with an equivalent add-on for the old version. The people who are obsessed with the delusion of a pending redesign will see one in anything Nintendo does at this point.

Because redesigning handhelds is something Nintendo isn't ever wont to do.

No, I already knew it was real. I know people doubted it but I saw no evidence that the original magazine article was bull. As of right now it is only for one game, no matter if Nintendo is making it (or one like it ) possible to be used for other games does not matter (of course they would) if its an awful attachment and no one buys it, game companies aren't going to make games that use it. Think of it like the Power Glove; it came out for specific games and had ways to work with past games and future games but it sucked so no one used it.

The point is, everyone has made huge goofy theories on what it means ignoring what is actually known about it. This isn't the lead up to a redesign coming at Christmas (which will have no 3D, the extra buttons and blah blah blah), it includes more than a circle pad, it is only for one game right now, etc etc.

The Wii has a lot of useless add-ons.

Motion+ add-on anyone?...

And yes, I do count the first party controller as part of the console...

Not in this manner, they're not. Remember when we got that color screen add-on for the classic Game Boy? No? And how the Game Boy Color came with a built-in camera and printer? Still no? Okay, what about how Nintendo gave us a kit put a light inside the pre-SP GBA. That wasn't them? But when the DS Lite came out, it had the RAM expansion from the Browser built in. It didn't? Well then surely we got a camera for the DS Lite that foreshadowed the DSi for us? No? Hmm...

And let's not forget that releasing a new model right now would hurt and fragment an already lagging brand, cost Nintendo a lot of money, and would be very unlikely to spark public interest. That's not just a lose-lose scenario, it's lose-lose-LOSE. If the 3DS becomes a hit at a later time, we can be virtually assured of a revamp. Until that time, a revised edition is fantasy, and you can be totally assured this accessory is not it.

flamepanther hits the nail on the head. You're confusing cosmetic redesigns with functional redesigns. About the only functional redesign I can think of is the DSi having a camera while the previous DS's didn't. Everything else has just been a change of aesthetics and a prettier screen. Do I think the 3DS will have one of those redesigns? Of course. Once it's established and sales start to slow down they'll release a new version with better battery life and a nicer screen, and probably a shifted stylus. It's not going to be this complete overhaul.

Also, does no one realize that if you don't like the 3D you can use the slider to turn it off?

The way I see it the add-on IS a console redesign.

Console redesign through an add-on...

Sales are not how they expected them to be up to this point. They see the PSP Vita as a possible rival and they get scared. They approve Capcom's redesign add-on and hope this will take some of the PSP Vita's wind away...

If more companies start using this 'add-on' you can be damned sure they will implement it in a new model one year from now (more or less) and milk us some more...

This has nothing to do with being anti-Nintendo. You don't have to be a fool to see what's happening here...

By the way, google '3DS redesign' and see what comes up. Still a rumour, but why does this not surprise me... lol
