any good cel shaded or anime based games?

Post by JC48573 »

I already have a few like Ultimate Ninja Storm and Fist of the North Star. I was wondering if there are any good ones out there. Underrated ones are fine too.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention some good ones like Victorious Boxers 1 and 2 for the PS2.

These aren't anime-based, but they're my favorite cell-shaded games in whatever order they come to mind:

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - Nintendo Gamecube
Punch-Out!! - Nintendo Wii
No More Heroes - Nintendo Wii
Jet Set/Grind Radio - Sega Dreamcast
Okami - Sony PS2
Viewtiful Joe - Nintendo Gamecube
Sonic Colors - Nintendo DS
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) - multiplatform

Punch-Out has some of the nicest cell-shading I've seen. It doesn't excessively sharp and flat like a lot of cell shading does. Also worth mentioning, the graphical style in the Mega Man Legends games is sort of like a close predecessor to cell-shaded graphics.

How could I forget Killer 7? That's one of my favorite games of all time. Also, many of WayForward games are cel-shaded and No More Heroes is also cel-shaded and anime based.

Tales of Symphonia and Robotech: Battlecry are both really good.
