Same game. Two platforms. Which version do I choose?
Same game. Two platforms. Which version do I choose?
I am getting a ps1 this weekend. Now since I own a 64 and im getting a ps1, is there a website that shows or ranks the same game for both systems?. Like for example tony hawk 2. If I wanted to pick it up which platform had the superior game. Or S.C.A.R.S, 007 tomorrow never dies, ready to rumble, nfl blitz, madden, etc. You guys know what I mean. I just dont want 2 copies of the same game that's all. Thanks for reading

PS1 for Tony Hawk 2 for the soundtrack alone. The n64 and it's sampled clips of the music can't hold a candle to the PS1.mas wrote:I am getting a ps1 this weekend. I like Glover and Robotron 64 better on the N64 over the PSX versions. However Robotron X is easily adapted to twinsticks on the Sony.
Just Wiki any game to see which systems. Then hit reviews of each one.
Meanwhile hit console exclusives such as Medievil, Tempest X, Neverhood and Little Big Adventure.

With som exceptions, I would go by a rule that all cross platform games are better on ps1 and/or saturn. One benefit the 64 has though is load times.

Depends on the game I guess. Mega Man Legends is best on the N64 for me.
Thanks everyone...

No, you'll just have to read reviews for each game. And if you're wanting Tony Hawk 2, you should get it either for Dreamcast or on Xbox in the Tony Hawk 2X collection, both of those versions are superior to the N64 and PS1 versions.mas wrote:I am getting a ps1 this weekend. Blitz on 64 unless you got a dualshock for ps1.

Unfortunately, most reviewers are pretty useless about pointing out stuff like that and I'm pretty sure they were back then tooBoringSupreez wrote:No, you'll just have to read reviews for each game.mas wrote:I am getting a ps1 this weekend. Thankfully, today we have sites like Lens of Truth and Digital Foundry to tell us what useless, lazy reviewers don't

If ur serious about Tony Hawk 2 Ready to Rumble or Blitz, go Dreamcast route. Besides, These titles wud be cheaper or about the same price as the other ports. Otherwise don't concern yourself with which PS1 or N64 version to get
Re: Same game. Two platforms. Which version do I choose?
I look at the Wikipedia page for the particular game and cross my finger that it has a "Ports" section. Most multi platform games will have this entry on a Wiki page. It will list each console port with a description. It will usually do a good job of letting you know which version has the better graphics, which version is censored, which version has missing levels, has bonus content, et cetera.
