just an FYI -- I had encountered this exploit on a laptop multiple times running IE 8. I remember trying to log on using Internet Explorer, a while back, and AVG gave me warnings. I think this was back just before the server switch.
I also use a website monitoring service at
http://sucuri.net/
So far it seems clean, but this service will also monitor things on a daily basis for me as well.

The exploit only seems to effect IE (and typically exploits a flaw in Adobe Reader)noiseredux wrote:just an FYI -- I had encountered this exploit on a laptop multiple times running IE 8. From my research rouge ad banner would get IE to download a flawed PDF file that would cause Reader to crash and insert a fake antivirus program.

Re: Can't log in to buy stuff on Racketboy Store
yeah it definitely has to do with Adobe reader. It actually got me once, and i had to system restore. It made it look like it was installing an Adobe update, then wiped out my IE favorites and turned my desktop black. Freaky shit. I actually only visit the RB front page when I'm on Firefox now. Kind of weird. No way for you to know how to shut it out?racketboy wrote: The exploit only seems to effect IE (and typically exploits a flaw in Adobe Reader)

I've seen the results from another site I run -- had the same issue.noiseredux wrote:yeah it definitely has to do with Adobe reader. It actually got me once, and i had to system restore. Windows Restore is the best fix.
And from what I can tell, there isn't a real fix other than to get people to run more secure software.
It seems to have died down on the other site -- maybe Google is doing a better job weeding it out. I spent a lot of time and money reinstalling server software and doing lots of scans to make sure i wasn't missing anything.

Can you email me at rackeboy AT gmail DOT and I can see if I can find your account?
