Can I replace a Philips-Benq disc drive with a Hitachi-LG drive? The reason why I want to use a different drive is because I have a 360 with a bad motherboard but good drive, and one with a good motherboard and bad drive.
Also, does anyone know how to flash it? I want to use a SATA-USB adapter. I found a guide http://www.biline.ca/360_slax.htm but it's pretty outdated, and doesn't mention anything about Philips-Benq drives.
Help much appreciated.

You need to get the drive key from the broken drive, then spoof it on the replacement. There are walk throughs out there, look for jungleflasher. Some drives require a hardware mod to trick the drive to go into the mode required to read/write the key. Good luck.
