The thing is, a spinning mass is a gyroscope. For the most part, either you have a drive that spins slower and is less gyroscopic so it won't resist being turned and crashing into the lens, or you have a drive that spins very fast so things load quicker, but it will resist being tilted. Even MS has to obey physics.isiolia wrote:Some disc drives do a good job of locking a disc so that it's not a danger. Some don't. Sure, but a gyroscope sensor in the drive that will stop the motor and retract the laser if it's tilted would accomplish that. I dunno, it was just one thing I remembered there being a fuss over when the Slim was first released. To me, it's not a big deal either since I don't make a habit of rocking my consoles while a disc is spinning. That said, it's something that might have been nice to see - this is the same company that put standard breakaway cords on their first console "just in case".Hobie-wan wrote:The thing is, a spinning mass is a gyroscope. I think that most people who tilted their systems, scratched discs, and complained loudly on forums had their 360 standing precariously upright on their dirty laundry or were kicking the table because they just lost a round of Halo though.

Or jumping up and down, screaming at their mom because she won't bring him chocolate milk (remember that video? Re: XBOX360 Slims , any common hardware problems ?
I bought a Slim 360 the day it came out. Mine is still working like a champ, and I have had no problems with it. My friend has a Halo Reach edition Slim. The only problems he had was one time the console fell over and ruined a disc, and his disc drive could not close and kept opening by itself. The only reason he had that problem was because instead of just pushing the button to close it he pushed it in with his foot every time.
