That's some pretty bizarre logic. Whatever works for you though.

The best and hilarious part is that most of the DC ports to other systems were often inferior to the original versions. I guess that's happened across many platforms though.

I have a hard time thinking of the DC as part of the same generation as the GCN and Xbox, considering it died before either came out. And it mainly competed for sales against the PS1, N64, and the PS2 later on.

That would mean the Saturn and Dreamcast are the same generation. It would also mean the Wii is part of the same generation, since its games are nearly identical to the Gamecube. Hell, the tech specs are nearly identical as well, so it actually makes sense for someone to consider it the same generation as the Gamecube.

The only difference is the shitty motion controls that made early Wii games worse than normal. Now that motion controls aren't used in most good Wii games, it's pretty much a Gamecube in every way.

The Gamecube is alive and kicking! It just had a name change.

It really is an opinion based statement. Unless you can honestly say that you HATE Resident Evil 0,1,2,3 and 4, Beyond Good and Evil, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, F-Zero GX, Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, Custom Robo, Skies of Arcadia, Ikaruga, Capcom vs SNK 2, Baldur's Gate, Mega Man 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 +2 arcade editions, TimeSplitters 2, Soul Calibur II, Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2, Star Fox Assault, The Entire 2-D Sonic the Hedgehog series as of 2005, Robotech Battlecry, Puyo Pop Fever, Alien Hominid, the MegaMan X series, Chaos Field, XG3 Extreme Racing, Wave Race Blue Storm, Midway's arcade racers, Hitman, The Prince of Persia Trilogy, Eternal Darkness, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury, Shikigami no Shiro II, and Killer7, then you don't think the GameCube sucks.

The above paragraph was conceived without mentioning Mario, Zelda or Metroid... Food for thought.

Don't you mean the PS2/Xbox/GCN/DREAMCAST era of consoles.
As far as the technical specs go, yes, the DC is part of the PS2 generation. But when you look at the games themselves, it seems more like part of the PS1/N64 generation, and that's what I consider it a part of.
I agree with this completely. The DreamCast was discontinued before the XBOX or GameCube were even released, so I can't honestly consider it a part of that generation at all. Kind of like saying the 3DO, Jaguar and CD-i were PS1/N64 competitors; tech specs-wise maybe but in practicality - not at all.

Everything in bold I know is on another system as well, everything in red is not only on another system, but is superior there. MGS2 is not on GCN at all, only the first one.

Really most of the games look comparable to PS2 games, lets see Skies of Arcadia was originally on the Dreamcast and gamecube port was basically the same, Resident evil, SNK vs capcom 2, Marvel vs capcom 2. Grandia 2 looked worse on PS2 plus others, if anything the NGC and Xbox were late to the party, Xbox lasted what 2 years when it was released in 2003 before the next generation started. at least the PS2 and Dreamcast where there when it started. Plus most gaming websites have it listed with the same generation as the PS2,NGC, and Xbox.

The 3DO and Jaguar were both still in production when the Saturn and PS1 were released so in that logic yes those two were.

When you classify consoles into generations it has nothing to do with competitors, or even technical specs. Generation refers to the time frame the console was active. Dreamcast was sixth gen, it's not even an argument really.
