Why do people say that the Gamecube sucks?/ Gamecube Thread

I have a small number of games that I REALLY like for the Gamecube, enough for me to say I like the system itself.

I think the reason it's often disliked is because most of the games are made my Nintendo. If you're not a fan of Nintendo, then there isn't much of a reason to buy it. There are a few outstanding third party games, but often times not enough for some people to declare the gamecube non-sucky. If I had different tastes in games I could see how it would be easy to overlook the entire library of the system.

3. Not as many RPGs as the PS2

Common, that one's just not fair. It's like complaining as system doesn't have as many fighting games as the Saturn.

Haha, that and well compared to the current consoles... it still has a LOT of RPG's.

The GC was pretty solid in my book. Maybe I prefer it over the N64, maybe not. I'm never sure, but one thing is for sure, the GC brought back Metroid... something the N64 lacked big time. So that's a lot of bonus points for me.

i would like to know that as well. i also like to add that Gamecube has a nice hombrew support and cool attachment like the GBA player.

1. No online play (for 98% of the games)

this was such bullshit

iirc the ONLY game that officially supported online play was Phantasy Star Online.

Hell, even multiplatform games that had online play in their ps2 and xbox versions had it removed in the GameCube version. You'd think the developers thought the GameCube couldn't do online or something!

Halo 2, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory, Rainbow Six 3, Phantom Dust, Final Fantasy XI, MGS3: Subsistence, the SOCOM games, Urban Chaos: Riot Response, Crimson Skies, Sid Meier's Pirates, Killzone, Time Splitters Future Perfect, I could go on and on...

I'll agree Splinter Cell multiplayer was the only thing I ever liked out of that series. And MGS3 was awesome when I played online at a friends.

Halo LAN's > Halo 2 though. FOREVER!
