Actually Tactics Ogre is one of those games mentioned that requires lots of grinding. There's a feature that allows your units to fight each other for experience and you can set both sides to comp. So usually I do that and sit nearby playing Metroid on my GBA in case a spell dialogue pops up, I can press X and wait until my units are done training.

I guess technically though the game is playing itself then, but I could still theoretically play the GBA during enemy turns and the such.

Ditto. Heck, I've got two laptops for that reason alone.
(And give it time, I'd say before the day is over, someone will have an emulator in an emulator running from a console.)
I've always wanted to have an snes emulator running inside a dreamcast emulator running inside a virtual machine.

I thought I was the only person who wanted to do such madness. Would an nes emulator in dosbox running on a vm work for you?

You the man now, dawg.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
