I was thinking how awesome it would be if developers made replicas of current gen games to be played on our older game consoles such as SNES, Sega Genesis, etc.
Imagine playing a 16 bit version of Dead Space for the Genesis or an 8 bit version of Halo haha
I know it sounds stupid but I think it would keep our older consoles from collecting dust and liven up the currently dull gaming market don't you think?
What games would you guys like to see retrolized?

Re: Just An Idea
I guess this could count but I was talking about developers making actual cartridges that we can go out and purchase.
By the way, that link was awesome!

IIRC, there are also chinese versions of modern games for the famicom. The one that comes to mind first is Final Fantasy VII.

Re: Just An Idea
I wish gaming companies would just flat out ditch the current bullshit and go back to making Super Famicom and Saturn games. It really seems like having technical limitations actually improves the quality of the game.
If Nintendo would cancel the Wii U, and re-release the Super Famicom or Nintendo 64, along with new games for it, I would be very happy. I'm serious by the way.

This is a dilemma devs have always had to work around. Our current gen consoles aren't without their own limitations, there's just a lot more to work with compared to past hardware. But I think I understand where you're coming from with this.Inazuma wrote:It really seems like having technical limitations actually improves the quality of the game.
Devs are usually aiming for photorealism; trying to make the visuals seem as real as possible. Instead of pushing the envelope, why not use our current state of hardware to maximize the standards of previous gens? Well... money for the most part. Same reason why they produce discs instead of cartridges.
But I'd still love to see, like, a glorified render of games like Double Dragon III. Like what Capcom did with SSFII Turbo Remix, only without Udon doing the art...
But I digress. That's going in the complete opposite direction that this topic is discussing, lol.
