Music similar to Deus Ex Human Revolution soundtrack?

Post by kelsoanim »

I normally don't listen to much electronic music, but I think the soundtrack for Deus Ex Human Revolution is amazing. Can anyone recommend some good electronic music that is similarly moody and dramatic?

Good call on posting music samples, J T. Here's some YouTube clips of the badass soundtrack.

It would help if you could post a few songs from the game that you liked, but here are some things that come to mind right away that are more-or-less related in style (click links for examples):

The Future Sound of London

Hybrid

Hector Zazou

Juno Reactor

Also, the guy that did the music for Deus Ex: HR usually records as Behavior

Mass Effect's OST's are fairly similar I'd say.

You can't beat the original Deus Ex / Unreal composer Alexander Brandon though. I know it's probably not exactly what you're looking for, but you can't beat it...

You might want to check out "High Frequency Bandwidth"

They did the music for Pixel Junk Shooter 1 and 2. The founder of "The Orb" is one of the guys behind the project. There like to do electronic music layered with real instruments and performers. Listen to a few tracks because they can really make a lot of different sounding music. From instrumental down tempo to straight up hip hop to house music.

Another act is Transit Kings. They were kind of similar to HFB but way more epic sounding, kind of like your first example. Electronic music for the head not always for a dance floor.

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys.

Mirror's Edge soundtrack is great, and I forgot how good the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack was. I made myself a YouTube playlist full of Deus Ex, Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect 2 tracks.

Through Mirror's Edge I started listening to Solar Fields. Good stuff.
