Yes I have listened to rock n' roll while playing video games. I'm so bad.
Since this signature affects old posts, I'm leaving a message here in case anyone searches for my username. This account died in early 2013. I am no longer a fundamentalist.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

 Ditto for me. This is in contrast with my kids who have it full blast. They usually have max brightness/max sound and they wonder why the battery life is not so good. :)

Back in the NES~N64 days, if a game had really bad music (or I felt it didn't suit the game) I'd put on a CD instead. Now when I listen to those same CDs I get flashbacks of playing games. :)
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

I also do this. I don't feel right playing games without their actual soundtrack. I quickly get annoyed at not havign the relevant music and sound effects and turn off the music and turn the game sound back up.

My hobbies have to be kept seperate I guess.

I will do this while playing any SSX game. Most of the in game music gets old quick so I'll turn off the sound and throw a disc full of mp3's in the Bose.

A few that I dig (not necessarily all rock n' roll):

Beatnuts - "Hot"
Misfits - "Last Caress"
Smashing Pumpkins - "Tarantula"
Kosheen - "Hide U"
Moby - "Gob Moving Over the Face of the Water"
Panda Bear - "Slow Motion"

I have a couple of mp3 CDs I keep in my car, each with over 100 tracks. I have the songs in alphabetical order by title. On one of the CDs, I have a live version of War Within a Breath (RATM) so when that comes on I usually crank it really loud. Immediately after that track ends, you hear "WE BUILT THIS CITY!" and I have to quickly turn the volume down in embarrassment. But then I remember that the song is badass and I turn it back up with courage.

The pool hall Good Fellas I use to play in a lot had a jukebox with a loud sound system. Depending on who got to it first, you'd hear a genre for 5 or more songs in a row (you were also able to buy a bump to get your songs to play first). So one night there's this real dirty rap music playing. Then all of a sudden a song ends and you hear "WE BUILT THIS CITY!" It was really quite amazing.

The only time I ever really listen to anything other than the in-game soundtrack is while playing PC games. WoW, SC2, Sims, etc.

Yep. Gran Turismo PSP and GT5 have custom soundtracks. I loaded it up with Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, etc.
