Videogame heroes you have admired

Alucard from SotN. One, he's not at all phased by having to kill his father to save humankind from damnation despite having more in common with the Count than humans. Two, for his ability to resist temptation - the succubus that tried to sway him by impersonating his mother initially was rather unsuccessful. Impossible not to like this guy.

Second pick is probably Snake from MGS3 for his determination, strong morals and overall manliness.

Third pick would be Delita Hyral from Final Fantasy Tactics, because he accomplished his goals and became a king from a peasant, using all of his friends (and enemies) in the process. He was a great opportunist, he also had no scruples, but you gotta admire his tenacity.

Ryu has always been such a strong character for me. Every time I seen him played professionally in Street Fighter I get chills.

My other two choices would be Arthur from Ghouls and Ghosts and Mega Man. These two little guys put up with way too much crazy shit not to admire them.

When I was little I thought Link was super cool, and played around in the forest. I lived in a rural part of upstate NY.

I might sew a Link costume for my nephew now...

Harry Mason, from the original Silent Hill. There's nothing special about this guy that makes him suited to becoming a one-man rescue mission to Hell. He's not terribly strong (or smart), no super-jumping abilities, no special combat training, he isn't fast--nothing--he's just a regular guy. He can't even run for long without getting winded! Even the ordinary human heroes of the Resident Evil games had special police training. Not Harry. The only thing special about him is that he has pockets big enough to hold a big metal pipe (or is he just happy to see you?) and that he loves his daughter too much to ever give up looking for her himself. Unlike some later Silent Hill characters, he never did anything to deserve all of the horrors that are inflicted on him, and he's not on some sick quest to punish himself. He shouldn't expect to have any reasonable chance at saving his daughter. No normal human being could be blamed for running away and looking for help.

It's easy to admire strong warrior-type characters who were built to face the dangers they seem to take in stride, but they've always got the appropriate aptitude and tools for the job. Naturally they'll rise to the challenge. But Harry? Harry makes me think--what if all this shit happened to me. Not "me" if I were some buff supersoldier or trained martial artist, but my everyday self as I am now, in real life. How well could any of us take it?

Jade from Beyond Good and Evil. She's possibly the most down to earth, relatable, female lead in any video game. I also love her non-violent personality, which is an odd thing for video games. She only fights in self defense, uses a non-lethal weapon and spends her free time meditating. She's the anti-thesis of EVERY female gaming stereotype. She doesn't dress like a slut, isn't angry at everyone(looking at you Lara Croft) and they didn't go overboard trying to make her super cool and thus, not relatable as a character

Yeah, I'd rate her even higher than other female icons like Samus Aran, Chun Li, Lara Croft, Alex from Half Life, etc.

I can't admire most videogame characters. They kill too many people.

I admire a bunch, but can't really give any good reasons except that they are just plain awesome and that they do what they have to do, whether it be saving the world or saving other people, because they want to. Mario, Link, Gordon Freeman, Leon Kennedy, Cloud Strife, Mega Man, and Kirby to name a few.
