I haven't found very many video games where the writing was high quality enough to make me warm up to anyone. However, I did admire Midna in Zelda Twilight Princess, as well as Alyx from Half Life 2. They were both tough, determined heroines I grew to care about as I progressed through those games.

It's anagrammatic humor.

She's probably the reason why I latched onto internet culture so easily. Sarcasm abound!
She's one of my favorites, but I wouldn't say I "admire" her.

I'd say I admire Gordon Freeman most. He just keeps going into terrible situations and fighting, even though he's not in control of it and it never seems like his fight gets anywhere.

I know some people hated the hair, but I dug it. I also love that Zero is always focused, calm, cool and collected. He never shows fear, never freaks out and never gets as emotionally conflicted and whiny as X. Not that I dislike X mind you. Oh, and one more reason he's awesome:

When I first played MMX I thought Zero was a girl.
Yeah, I never really understood that view that so many people had. I guess seeing long hair didn't automatically trigger the word girl in my brain when I first saw him. All I saw was a badass red robot come in and kick Vile's ass and I knew we'd never see a girl character do that in a Mega Man game. I mean when is the last time you saw Roll kick someone's ass?

I didn't really admire Solid Snake when I played Metal Gear Solid but I connected to him a lot more than other video games characters because of the emphasis on story in that game and I eventually came to gain a sense of admiration and forndess for his character when I saw his progression during MGS4.

I always assumed the hair was a cape, until I actually looked at pictures of him and realized it hair or some kind of plume.

Oh and as others have previously stated: Samus Aran is kick-ass.
