The thread title is kind of funny, because if I can't be bothered to play something then I probably don't think it's actually good

Pretty Much any Metroid game. I've been getting into Castlevania so maybe that will change. I guess I prefer the straightforwardness of Castlevania over the maze likeness of Metroid. Marvel Vs Capcom, any run and gun, most JRPGs, and Tomb Raider to name a few.

I'm confused. Does this mean that every game you have never played is a bad one?Gamerforlife wrote:The thread title is kind of funny, because if I can't be bothered to play something then I probably don't think it's actually good

I don't think I'll ever get around to playing the Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell series, or anything with Call of Duty/Socom/Tom Clancy/etc in the title. These games have always just seemed so dry to me compared to all the other, more fantastical experiences that the vast world of gaming has to offer.
To be fair, though, I can't really watch a War movie without dozing off either.

I always thought the same way, but you actually have no idea about MGS bud. It's actually very very the opposite. It's basically a b-movie homage. Think of it as USA Up All Night Presents: Action Movie: The Game!Nintendork666 wrote:I don't think I'll ever get around to playing the Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell series, or anything with Call of Duty/Socom/Tom Clancy/etc in the title. You so need to give it a try.

Maybe I will... maybe. The only one I've ever tried was Metal Gear on the NES when I was much, much younger. Needless to say, I didn't get very far. Those damn dogs.noiseredux wrote:I always thought the same way, but you actually have no idea about MGS bud. It's actually very very the opposite. It's basically a b-movie homage. Which title would you suggest I take a look at? Preferably one with more gameplay, and less cut-scenes.

I think they all have a lot of cutscenes. Kojima loves movies. Of the Solid series I've only played the first, recently. Others might be able to tell you if there's a better starting point. But it's pretty brilliant.

Said by the guy with a FF sig and avatar.
I agree about Starcraft 2, but I still find it easy to say I'm really turned off by the fact that it's still technically going to be made up of three separate games. Brood War, an "expansion pack" will probably offer more than any of the Starcraft 2 sets ever do.
Did you give up on BoFIV? Nooooooo! I was in that JRPG slump for years myself though. But I don't know what the heck happened, after beating FFIV again, FFII, and FFV back to back... here I am "testing out" FFIII (NES) but I'm level 10 and already a nice chunk into it from what it feels like. I just might keep pressing forward and I'm finally really feeling like I should hit up some JRPG's I've been meaning to play for years, like the first Lunar, etc.brunoafh wrote:StarCraft II is the big one for me. I was a huge WarCraft I-III junkie but I just don't have the initiative to get into an RTS competitively anymore. I'm sure it's an excellent game but I just have no desire to play it at all, even though I feel like I ought to give it a shot.
Lately I've been pretty turned off by turn-based JRPGs too. I can still play RPGs in general though, in fact I've been playing nothing but SRPGs for the past few months, but for some reason JRPGs just can't hold my attention anymore.
