Skyrim is gonna be for casual gamers!

Post by AmericanMuffin »

Hell has just frozen over. I want a real FPS/RPG with classes, now you're wondering why I say this well,
Attributes removed
abilities removed
classes removed
star signs removed.
Who's idea was it to remove these? Now it's just CoD with quest and in a midevial future!

Attributes were a complication on top of the skills, and led to some weird bleed effects. For example, you train mercantile a lot and take a bonus to personality so now you're better at speechcraft. That seems reasonable. But it also means you're better at illusion, which doesn't. Plus, it meant you could gimp your character by doing something stupid like not leveling your attributes that correspond with your skills.
abilities removed
If you mean the couple of class/birthsign specific abilities that half the time were worthless? Yes, they've been replaced with abilities at level up and skill based abililtes for leveling those skills.
classes removed
Classes were just pregenerated characters. I never used them anyway; I rolled my own.
star signs removed.
Considering these were mostly attribute effecting I don't mind them being removed. It seems like they're trying to shift more focus towards building your character through your actions, rather than building a character that's already good at something. A shift in focus.

Yeah... no. I wish people would stop confusing dumbing down with streamlining.

Streamlining isn't dumbing down.

EDIT: MrPopo beat it to me

I like how people think "They removed overly complicated and useless systems and ideas for levelling up, this game is so casual." Yeah, sure. Anyways, this game could never be sold to a casual crowd. I mean, 300 hours of gameplay, skills, understanding perk trees, learning to fight, etc. It's too big for a casual.

I can only wish Skyrim to be more casual. Morrowind and Oblivion are so expansive and overly complicated that I have no wish whatsoever to dive into them.

There is no such thing as a hardcore or casual gamer. The concept is inherently flawed.

I've grow super tired of the hardcore and casual gamer argument.

Double QFT

I admit that I use the terms a lot, but there really isn't too much of a difference between the two, other than time and effort put into gameplay itself.

I'm casually hardcore.

Like, you know you're hardcore, but you gotta play it cool, boy.
