Because I want to play them. Do I really need a reason?

I think every form of entertainment has gone down in quality in the past 10 years. Too much focus on money and sure bets. Publishers have been getting too involved with what they publish. I remember reading something in the Wall Steet Journal the other day about the state of books. It basically said authors were changing to stories about the undead so they could get published because publishers wanted more sure bets. Publishers have been doing their best to hurt the author and consumer to make more money as well. The public either has next to no critical eye anymore or wants new stuff so bad they'll overlook its flaws.

Hmm. Maybe some niche forms of entertainment haven't. I think TV animation is in a better state now than in 2001, from both sides of the Pacific. Anime dubbing has certainly gotten better, although I still have a hard time listening sometimes. Movie adaptations of comic books have improved greatly as well. Pop music is still worse than in the 1980s, but I'll take Lady Gaga over early Britney Spears any day of the week, if I have to listen to either.

Media is in the same state it's ever been. In 20-30 years we'll cherry-pick the best out of this decade and complain about how much worse everything is then.

Heck even the new Thundercats honestly looks pretty kickass. lol, so yeah. Some stuff is really oversaturated thesedays and I'm definitely glad I was a 90's kid (born in 87), but things do seem to be getting better over the past few years.

Also worth noting that when anime switched from cel (hand drawn) animation from the late 90's to computer CGI drawn stuff in the early 2000's, that stuff looks god awful and hasn't aged well at all (just go watch Gundam SEED or something), but modern Japanese animation has come a long ways in 10 years since then and it's awesome now. I'll still always love the cel drawn classic stuff more since it's a bit more personal, but yeah. No complaints with how most new shows look now.

Though I still kind of agree with isiolia above, lol.

I wonder what video games will look like 20-30 years from now, and we'll be playing Halo: Reach and Black Ops all day, saying that health bars suck and the games publishers in 2041 did to good and they wanted to play crappy games.(Sarcasm.) Also, CRT Gamer would be LED gamer :P

Yeah I'd agree to those points. But I do still think that the trash pile is bigger than it has been, smells a lot worse, and is too popular. Maybe I'm suffering from an early onset of Grouchy Old Man Syndrome though...

Same reason I play modern games. It's fun.
