Best CRT for retro gaming?

Sorry man, I was referring to the Dreamcast VGA box (or VGA cable, if that's what you're using) not the Sabrent VGA to Component converter (or transcoder, whatever you want to call it).

I'm saying the offset you're experiencing might not be the fault of the Sabrent, but rather the way the tv interprets the vga signal.

If I'm just being confusing here I apologize. I'm not trying to.

Ok so I got this today http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812156028 and it works kinda. On 720p and 1080i modes it turns it into a 16:9 and fills the screen right to left but leaves black bars top and bottom. On 480P mode (which is what I want) the image is off set to the left about 3 inches but other then that it works. I wonder if a higher quality trans-coder will fix the problem? Thinking of trying http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-vid ... d9A60.html which seems like a better all around product.

I am interested in seeing the clarity and maybe could live with the offset. At least you got it to actually work, a promising start of getting VGA on a non VGA input HD CRT. Unfortunately, the 4:3 WEGA will jump to wide screen mode with black bars on any signal above 480p. Unlike a regular computer monitor, there is no on screen control of zooming or slide without going into the hidden service menu. I wouldn't go into that service menu, I read about a risk of bricking the HD.



Does the Transcoder have mechanical adjustments or potentiometers? What are the buttons on the side? As for the more expensive Audio Authority VGA Box, I read good things about it. Not sure if it will center the screen any better though, a chance may or may not work.

Ill get on them screen shots tonight. The buttons on the side are Power, Mode (480p 720p 1080I) and picture. The picture button just plays with the brightness of the video.

Thanks! The mode button looks like a very nice feature. I am very tempted to pick one up myself. My HD is an exact smaller version of yours, a 32" WEGA HD CRT. If your TV ever does fail, an easy twenty dollar fix, the Repair is in the Guides section.

Yup, Im gonna order the fix and just stash it just in case. The tv has a fantastic picture. If I could just sort out the VGA thing Id be a happy camper.

Im planning to buy something special for ps2 and wii. i cant buy SLG3000 because it kinda of expensive for this little gadget.

If you open it up there are pots you can adjust, though I've never needed to adjust any of mine. In order to post screenshots I'd have to hook it back up. I loaned it out to a friend to see if it would work for his situation (it did) and have been too lazy to hook it back up. But I must say that the video quality is very, very good. I feel it looks better than progressive video from the PS2, for example.
