Kind of like the Wii U stuff, it might be fine for people who are new to the consoles, but for those who have the library of old games having backwards compatibility is nice. Obviously, a backwards-compatible Wii isn't expensive these days, and will likely never be rare...but still...

Would be nice to see some plusses to go with the minuses. Integrated HDMI, more built-in storage, that sort of thing.
What does the gamecube controller give you that the classic controller doesn't?
Hori even made a classic controller identical to the gamecube (with turbo):

You would assume that with no ports for plugs (aside from the AC, 2x USB ports [does anyone use them?], sensor bar and SD card slot) this would be totally manageable.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

So they only improvement is the size? And it ditches all GCN compatibility? Don't think I'll be buying this one. Besides, it's only been announced for Europe so far, it might be an exclusive sort of like that new PSP model.

True, it's by far a downgrade from the original model, but I think I'd buy one for kicks grins and giggles. Good way to play legit games without having to find a work around on my softMii'd Wii

Seems useless to me. I can't find one reason to buy this. I'm probably not in the demographic.

I use the USB for a USB HDD to load my games from. Did the Wii Speak use USB? There was also that adaptor for Ethernet that used USB.

Pointless anyone? Specially since it didn't come with another price cut.

Why don't we wait until we have more info before we judge this system.

They said it comes with Wii Sports and Wii Party, right? It may also come with 2 or more controllers. You can't exactly call it the Family Edition unless it comes with at least 2 controllers. The pictures on the box show families playing together, with multiple wiimotes.

So if it includes 2 pack-in games, and 2 controllers, for less than the price of a standard Wii, that could work out. For casuals who have no desire to play Gamecube games or use Gamecube controllers, it could be a good deal. Gamers won't be all that interested.

I think it is way too confusing how it looks nearly identical to the standard Wii. They really should have made the Family Edition a unique color, like silver or blue.
