Creative ways games mess with you

Post by insanecow0 »

So we all know about Psycho Mantis's memory card reading exploits, but there are without a doubt many more and no less interesting examples. For instance, if you leave Fatal Frame idle for a while, there will be bloody hand prints all over the pause screen. Another horror game example is Eternal Darkness's status effects, for example if your sanity meter is low it will seem like the T.V. is shutting off, or it will pretend to go into BSOD mode, those are some of the tamer examples.

Crap, I accidentally posted this in the wrong section. Can a mod move it to general gaming please?

To a lesser degree, the moments running around in your house in Max Payne and the tram ride in Quake 4.

The Karoshi games, particularly the second one, are pretty much based around fucking with you and breaking the fourth wall. The second one is one of the very few games where I had to do something in real life to solve an in game puzzle.
