N-Gage Games Issues

Post by lisalover1 »

I recently got an N-Gage phone, as well as a 32 MB MMC card that came with the phone. So, I tried putting some N-Gage games onto the card. They showed up in the system menu, and I was able to get them to run for a few seconds before they crashed giving me an error message reading "Memory Card is Corrupt", and shutting down immediately after. Is there something I am missing here? The games I downloaded came in files that I copied into the /system/apps/ directory, where they were recognized by the N-Gage, but would not play for more than a few seconds. I have tried formatting the MMC card multiple times, trying both the format utility on my computer and the phone itself. Any N-Gage aficionados out there who can lend a hand?

1st thing to try is a different set of files - maybe the games you are trying are the problem and not the card itself. I never, EVER got Civilization to run and I think I tried several different versions. Also I had to stop playing Rifts: Promise of Power as after putting several (I think it was over 30) hours into it the game always locked-up in a specific plot-specific point. Disheartening.

2nd thing to try is getting a bigger MMC card of 512 MB or 1 GB (don't go overboard as the N-gage won't be compatible with much larger than that if I recall correctly). Then when you have that, do not fill it to the brim - maybe up to half. Then try that.
I remember having issues of slow downs with a larger MMC card with lots of it filled and I thought that it was related to the N-gage not knowing what to do with such huge MMC cards - but it may just be that it has a problem with non-commercial game MMCs being too filled up.
