Why do some people lose/throw away game manuals?

What a tosser!

I too am amazed at how many games are missing the manuals, especially those that came in plastic boxes

Yep. So whether or not the owner of the game was old enough to know better, I'd say "kids" is a pretty good answer to the opening question.

Who, my cousin? Well, he was about three years old at the time, so I'll cut him a break. I was still livid at the time, though.

Please let us know how you decided to punish your cousin. I hope it was severe.

Well, he didn't get to play my games at all anymore. I'm not really the type to beat up on toddlers.

I sometimes throw out manuals if I disagree with the content. ("How dare they accuse the Dragon Ninja of kidnapping?! I demand proof before I save the president!")

Sega was really smart with SMS games. Those clamshell cases. NO ONE threw those out! They really had that part figured out. EVERYONE threw out NES boxes. Looking back you say "why?" but back then nobody kept them. :?

I have nearly all the boxes and other junk that came with my games. I liked boxes and inserts even as a very young child. I would get them out and admire them from time to time. I also liked to stack them up like blocks.

Sadly I've moved like 10+ times in my life growing up all around the area up until several years ago, so I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it. Think I lost some games and magazines/guides one time in a move as well.

I've come across game manuals that have rings on them.

they are rings from cold drinks that have condensed water on them.

Lazy fools decided to use the manual as a coaster!

so the manual went back into the case with the water ring on it. but if some get too messed up then I guess that they get thrown away.
------
Some sellers recieve items in bulk and also sometimes when games get sold at fleamarkets cases are most likely to open and the manuals fall out. The game is less likely to do that.

Some people when they sell at fleamarkets just care about selling the game, so they are not going to notice or care that some little booklet came out of it.

In a much stranger twist of fate, I once found a Genesis game for sale (Cyborg Justice) with a manual, but no case!
