Considering bones were already broken, perhaps the more appropriate saying is "let's not add insult to injury."

If I had donated money to someone to help them out, I'd be pissed if my money ended up going to someone else. Fuck that.
To be honest it should've been cut at the 10,000 mark. It is negligience to not cut it off and it is shitting over your fans. Instead they milked it out. Also helps that the person who needed funds was female.
I'm actually going to have to agree with Inazuma. The money should have gone to the person/group it was intended for. I don't know how the donations page was set up, but most of them usually let you see how much has been collected. So if people were still sending money after the page showed they hit the 10k mark it was because they appreciated the show and wanted to help. And I don't know how badly her arm was hurt, but depending on the damage she could have used some of the extra money for any needed physical therapy. That stuff ain't cheap. But it said they were planning to give it to charity anyway, so maybe people donating just figured "what the hell." Either way their money was going to a good cause. That's how I would have thought of it anyway.
If EC's side is to be believed they had enough money to pay for her surgery, therapy, and still had a lot extra. So EC set up what's essentially a non-profit indie publishing company.

It doesn't sound like there was ever an agreement with The Escapist about what should be done with any extra money. Yet The Escapist was asking them for a large sum of the money that was raised, despite the fact that they hadn't been paying EC for some time. While EC may not be entirely in the right with their actions I think that they're being more reasonable than The Escapist.

I think ChuChu has a point, they likely wouldn't have raised nearly as much money if it was for a guy. Take away what you want from that, but I have very little doubt that her gender was a factor in the amount of donations. But I don't think it's really relevant to the conversation.

So did The Escapist ever tell their side of the story? I want to know if I should boycott the site or not.

I think it had a big impact personally. 5x over the donation is quite a bit. We all know how cocoa for cocoa puffs online people are when there is a girl involved.

I wish her a speedy recovery.

I don't want to support bad people. It really upsets me. I hate to see harm done to people who don't deserve it.

And yeah, my boycott list is getting fairly long now. There is a lot of bullshit out there. I'm fighting back, with my wallet.

I'm more curious the list of things you don't (yet) boycott.

It's unfortunate to hear, but The Escapist has always been a pretty shitty website anyways. The only reason's I ever go there are for Extra Credit's and The Jimquisition. The EC guys will move on and do there show somewhere else. Maybe not under the same name, but it will be just as good. Maybe they'll go back to doing there video's on Youtube again.
