Anybody catch Storage Wars last night? The new guy that everybody hates, Mark, found an NES and he thought it was gonna be worth a lot of money (because it's an "NES-001" model). He took it to a game shop and found out he can get 10 bucks for it.
Speaking of which, does anybody know what he's talking about with the $13K NES? Or was he just talking out of his ass? Also, has anyone been to that shop in Highland Park?
Here is the full episode. For those who don't want to sit through the whole thing, just fast forward to 18:30 to see the appraisal part. You'll be forced to watch two commercials if you skip ahead, though.

His assumption really doesn't surprise me that much. Judging from the listings on my local Craigslist people around me seem to think those things are more valuable than gold. Doesn't matter if they're bare systems, filthy, or broken to hell people always seem to want a ton for them. Every time I see a listing like that I have t reel in the urge to call them and laugh at their stupidity. I don't, since it's obvious they've done absolute no research to find out what it's worth and are just assuming price based on age and nostalgia, but it's still tempting

I don't think it's limited to your area. Here in the San Francisco Bay people ask a king's ransom for next-to-worthless retro games.

K so heres where he got that from
A Nes console and 5 games sold for 13k a while ago. One of those games was a cib stadium events, the only one known in existence at the time. Bonus trivia: A few weeks later someone sees that in the news(it was on yahoos homepage), and finds that game sealed in their basement, it sold for 41k.

"Surprising, huh? Saw it on an online auction for a lot of money." Is...is Mark retarded or something?
Also, the store clerk to whom Mark tried to sell the NES bears an uncanny resemblance to Steve Buscemi.
That blonde chick is kind of milfy, in a white trash kind of way.

I saw it yesterday. I thought he was very stupid into believing it worth a lot. NES 001 means the model number. I have to videos on youtube I hope they work, you may have to turn the volume up. I had the volume up, but I didn't want to disturb anyone at night. I have a nes that has a low serial number count, but it s not for sale. I compared both of my NES and found out their was some different microchips in the system.

I hate the people who buy the video games at flea markets and try to re-sell them at the lot for a higher place. I remember when I tried to sell my fat silver nintendo DS and they offer me only $20 2 year ago. Of course I didn't let them buy it, instead I got good offer ebay $50 or 60.KillerJuan77 wrote:Well, a guy in Mercado Libre is trying to sell a Sega CDX for 1000 dollars. Why? ITS A COLLECTOR'S ITEM

I really want to like this show but the people in it are assholes and jerks!
Link for you http://www.trutv.com/video/storage-hunt ... index.html
there's one episode here (cant remember which) where one "winner" gets lots of arcade machines, but the way he acts and what he'll "get for it" makes me say WTF?!
Granted this is a TV show, and they just want to get your attention/ratings, but I guess they are just BEING EXTREME!
I have done some storage hunting in the past cause I used to help a guy who took storage finds to resell at a fleamarket, but it was never as exaggerated as it seems to be in the show.
