A few friends of mine mentioned he's not even worth seeing anymore. Not meaning to harsh your vibe, but apparently he can barely even hum through his lyrics.dsheinem wrote: Dylan just tuned 70 - he won't be around forever! Go see him if you get the chance!

I heard that critique before I saw him last time, and it isn't really accurate or fair. Is his voice what it was 40 years ago? No. It sounds different, just as it did in the 70s, again in the 80s, and again in the early 90s. He sounds more or less like he has since around Time Out of Mind era, which to me is great. It is probably a bit more grizzled, but for me that just adds a ton of character and depth. I like my old rockers to sound like Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, not like Mick Jagger or Steven Tyler.Luke wrote:A few friends of mine mentioned he's not even worth seeing anymore. I wonder if your friends went expecting to hear Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits and were surprised to hear more recent stuff, which is generally darker, has lower vocals, and comes from a different place in terms of subject matter and inspiration. Truthfully his last 3-4 albums have been some of the best of his entire career, and I am psyched to hear a bunch of that stuff live. He'll throw in a few classics of course, but they generally won't sound like they once did.

The general consensus was "He can't sing at all anymore, mostly because he either physically can't or doesn't want to". Again, I hope the concert is flat out awesome, but from what I've heard, don't expect any words from Dylan to even resemble the English language. Still, it would be cool to say "Yeah, I've seen Dylan a couple of times".dsheinem wrote:

Let me know how the concert is.

Haha, oh man. Good thing all is well. I've had to do this kind of exposure more than I wanted to these last few years, somewhere down the road I just finally said "fuck it" and don't even care anymore, "it's their job"... so here you go. lmao, still fairly degrading though and I've never done this in front of a female doctor, dunno if that'd be worse or what.Luke wrote:Smile: I had a complete physical yesterday.
Ticked: I had a complete physical yesterday.
All in all the doc said I'm in great health, but man, they don't give you any warning of what they're about to grab, check, squeeze, etc. My asthma was downgraded from Moderate to Mild, which is good, and my BMI is exceptional. And I did it all without my dusty WiiFit.

In all honesty, I have no issues with getting naked in front of a doctor. I'd rather get examined from head to toe and catch anything rather than risk it. But if you feel that you are being degraded Xeogred, you have every right to tell the doctor that you're not comfortable.
Does anyone remember the comedian (famous) who had a joke about the waiting room beds? It was something close to "I hate that paper on the waiting room tables. Looks like deli paper. Sometimes I want to rest on it and put a dill pickle next to me".

I saw him when he came to my town a couple years ago. He doesn't even sound like himself anymore, poor guy.Luke wrote:A few friends of mine mentioned he's not even worth seeing anymore. lol, well kind of like I said there it doesn't bother me anymore. The older I get the more relaxed I am about a lot of silly things. Used to have that normal fear of "sitting down" to use the restroom in public somewhere for the good ol' number 2, it's still not a fantastic experience but nowadays when it needs to be done it needs to be done, so oh well. lol, hell at my last job where I worked with a few friends it was kind of an epic competition who could be the loudest.Luke wrote:Xeogred wrote: Haha, oh man. But yeah, stripping down in front of doctors, not a huge deal anymore at all since yeah, I want to make sure everything is alright. I had to do a lot recently because of a lower hernia last year, then had some dehydration issues a few years ago, thought maybe I had UTI or something. Like you said I'd definitely rather make things are well rather than let it get worse.
So yeah nothing I'll turn down thesedays, but also nothing to really look forward too.
Had a good day today, so that's a smile I guess. Hopefully I can pass out early and not be up all night!
