DLC is finally making its way onto Nintendo platforms. You know what that means. I can no longer buy 3DS games on day one now, because there is a chance they will have DLC later. So I guess that means I will be buying all of my future 3DS games used, if at all. The ones that have DLC I may never buy because I like to get 100% of the game.
There is no way I am buying a Wii U until it's been out for a while and I know for sure how much DLC there is. If it's anything like the DLC on the XBOX 360 and PS3, I will stay away.
While Nintendo is hesitant about DLC for their 1st party games, the fact that they are even considering it in the first place, means it's possible. I was worried something like this would happen. Nintendo is the last good gaming company but that won't last forever.
For now, I will buy 3DS/Wii U products 6+ months later, used. If this DLC bullshit ends up getting out of control, I will stop altogether, and just stick to playing retro games.
tl;dr
Fuck DLC! (>_<);
The beginning of the end for Nintendo
Re: The beginning of the end for Nintendo
I still don't understand your logic. You don't seem to accept the possibility of DLC being extra content. Here's an example. Morrowind shipped on the PC. Some time later, Bethesda released a few plugins, for free, which added some extra fluff. Does this mean they shipped an incomplete game?

Games that might have DLC will have the "Nintendo WFC" logo on the box. If that's not there, then you're safe!
If they handle this anything like the 3rd-party Wii games that have DLC, there's also a warning about additional features costing extra. They've really gone out of their way to be up front about this stuff.

You heard it here first, folks. Inazuma's purchasing habits are the sole arbiter of EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE!
If you've ever been pissed off that a product left store shelves, take it up with him. Personally, I'm wondering what he had against Crystal Pepsi. That was the shit and he made it go away!
Hey Izzy...spoiler alert...DLC already exists on Nintendo platforms.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Glad to read that it wont have thatHowever, Iwata believes that pursuing certain types of low quality paid download content opportunities -- things like unlocking keys or stat increases -- would, while likely increasing short term profits, not allow them to build along term relationship with customers. Therefor, Nintendo feels that it should not have this type of low quality content for itself.

I'm sure Nintendo's reputation and prosperity depend entirely on your financial support.

Re: The beginning of the end for Nintendo
Honestly, I have no problem with totally new content being offered maybe a year or two after the game, to extend the life of the game. Mario Kart Wii and NSMB Wii virtually scream for an expansion, and it shouldn't be up to just the fans to make that happen (although fans ARE making that happen). Something like the F-Zero X Expansion Kit or the Ura Zelda expansion disk on 64DD, or like the expansion packs that are common on PC games between major sequels. I would love to be able to download stuff like that.
What pisses me off is when you have to pay for content that was already planned from the beginning, or that's already in the original game data but locked-out. That should be criminal.

I remember really liking Crystal Pepsi.

Some Used 3ds games will have that unerasable save crap. Oh well. Nintendo is going to the gutter.
