Re: What do you all prefer playing GB/GBC games on?
Usually I play it on the GBASP+ but if I am feeling nostalgic, perhaps I will bust out my GameBoy Classic or GameBoy Colour. I have a Game Boy Player, but I don't usually use it that often, because I'm not crazy about the GameCube controller for GB games. Hooking up my original GBA usually solves my problem, but I still would usually rather play on my SP+.

Gba SP for me. Backlight is the main reason. Sometimes I play on my Gba as well.

I use the SP for portability whilst still being able to see the damn screen. I love the GBC, but I sure as hell don't love having to play at weird angles so that I can see

GB Player is my hardware of choice, but I use Lame Boy on my DS Lite when I need my games to travel with me.
Re: What do you all prefer playing GB/GBC games on?
I'm really liking Lameboy (DS emulator) right now: Mostly because it plays a colorized Metroid II (which has trouble running on most emus, including Masterboy). Super GB support is also a nice bonus.
But I play on pretty much everything (original GB/GBC included). I like to alternate systems for the unique experiences of them all.

Might I ask what form of light is modded in your GBA (Afterburner, Halo Light, sacrificed GBA-SP backlight, etc?)irixith wrote:I use the original model GBA (modded with a light), because it's my favourite and most comfortable layout of the GBA models. That or the PSP w/MasterBoy (hey look, they have the same physical layout..hmmmmm..)

Thank you for the mention of the NAKI Arcade! I played one of those as a kid and have searching like crazy to find out what they were called.pakopako wrote:I really liked the GBclassic in terms of sheer bulk the thing gave my hands. With the HandyBoy by InterAct or the Arcade by NAKI, I could actually set the thing down and listen to the awesome stereo speakers.
While I love how the grayscale on the SP looks I have problems with the D-Pad and how the cartridges stick out of the bottom. I prefer the GBC by far but that usually relegates me playing it on the dining room table with its great overhead light. I don't have the patience for the worm light like I used to.

According to a recent eBay listing, the full title was Mini Arcade by NAKI.
Although -- holy SHAZZBOT -- the GBclassic Solar Panel (it's in the User Comments)... I mean, $40 solar panel technology in the 90s!

wow never seen one of those! Pretty cool. Kind of like my Hyper Boy, only not quite as ridiculous.pakopako wrote:Heh. My mind is like fine cheese; it gets sharper with age. Re: What do you all prefer playing GB/GBC games on?
Actually, the Hyper Boy seems to have a better arcade stick. The Naki mini-arcade, if it was meant to be a table-top version of the GB, gets trumped by a slightly easier to hold, but ugly to look at, InterAct Handy Pak.noiseredux wrote:wow never seen one of those! This is by far the best answer so far IMO...irixith wrote:I use the original model GBA (modded with a light), because it's my favourite and most comfortable layout of the GBA models.
Did you mod it yourself? What did you use to mod it with? How is the quality of the mod / screen?...
