Neo Geo AES No Signal

Post by lisalover1 »

I just traded my old Neo Geo AES system over at AtariAge for some miscellaneous gaming stuff, but the trader says that the system wasn't working when he received it, so I really want to help him get it working. He posted this thread with all the details over at Neo Geo Forums: http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthrea ... t-working-(-please-help!!!

Any help would be appreciated. When I sent the system out, it was working just fine.

Well, I assume he put in a game when starting it up; that's common sense, right? I guess I could ask, though. I included 3 games with the system.

well then yea, if you gave him some, but he should open it up and take pics to see if anything came loose during shipment.

did you pack it well?

do you 2 live in the same country? if so, maybe the system fried because of his house having crappy wiring?

Yes, he is also in the US. I suggested trying different power outlets, but he said it didn't work then, either.

I copied your trader's problem here for all to see without having to go back and forth clicking the link.

A Reply there recommended trying just the composite connection to see if the SVideo mod is the problem.

OK I'm gonna try to give you as much info as I can here:

Have a Neo AES w/UniBios & S-Video mods.

Model: NEO-AEC
Rating: 8W
Says "USE PRO-POW-E AC ADAPTOR ONLY"
Serial No: 90A 067978

There's a red light inside the console near the top that turns on when I turn on the power, but nothing comes up on the screen, no sound.

I've tried with the S-Video cables, and with a Genesis 1 AV cord.

I used the power supply that was provided by the seller, info as follows:

AC/DC adaptor
Model: SDK-0302
Input: 100-240VAC
50/60HZ
Output: 9VDC 1000mA

PLEASE HELP!!!

I worked out a trade for this stuff, and I don't want to trade back because I'll never ever bring myself to spend the kind of $ that's necessary to own a Neo (especially a modded one)

Thanks so much!
Good news is it does have power. Maybe the SVideo pins in the cable got broke? But there should at least be sound. If composite does not work either then have the trader verify the inputs on the TV are correctly set, a direct connection. If this is going to an iPac Arcade monitor, try a TV first.

Perhaps the cart connection, you could recommend the game carts and console contacts be cleaned.

i would agree it is the cart connection if the 3 games aren't all working. he might need to clean they system's pins. lisalover1, when did you last play it?

I tested the system and all of the games literally right before I put it in the shipping box.
