I've been thinking about going with the SNES since the RPGs are some of the classics and then saving money for a 360 with all the cave ports. The one thing that the Saturn has me by is the allure of exploring the console, but even then I believe you gotta shell out ~$35 to play imports? That is a copy of Chrono Trigger right there!! Any more advice will be helpful since I'm still not 100% on my choice for the SNES. Thanks!

Yeah, I've given it thought about keeping both since I do have both consoles right now. However, when I decide to collect something I really like to be concise. I rather have a really good Saturn or SNES collection that a mediocre of both. To me I think the real debate is between JRPGS and Shmups, the fighters and platforms are an added bonus to both consoles.
Well, to be honest... why not work on both? Spring for the Pro Action Replay 4-in-1 cart on the Saturn to get access to imports. You can get some of the absolute best fighters ever made for really good prices. VF2, VF Kids, Fighters Megamix, Daytona USA (love, Love, LOVE it!!!!), Sega Rally, Darkstalkers Revenge/Vampire Hunter, Street Fighter Zero 1 and 2, Pocket Fighter, X-Men: Children of the Atom, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Shinobi, Astal, NiGHTS, Puyo-Puyo Tsu and Sun, Puzzle Bobble 2 and 3, Super Puzzle Fighter 2x, Darious Gaiden, Twinbee Deluxe Pack, Parodius Deluxe Pack, Sexy Parodius, Gradius Deluxe Pack, Layer Section, Panzar Dragoon, Panzar Dragoon Zwei, Macross, Thunder Force Gold Pack 1 and f'n Donpachi are all games that you can get on the Saturn for $20 or under if you look around. Some of them, especially the fighters, are all $5 or less!!!!!!! Most of the shoot 'em ups I mentioned are in the $15-25 range (you will have to shop around to find those prices). Salmander Deluxe Pack should be in the $25-40 range. Dodonpachi in the $35-50 range. You can get most Neo Geo ports for cheap, although I'm guessing you aren't worried about those if you have a good MVS collection.
So, don't be afraid of collecting for the Saturn. You can build a VERY good collection without breaking the bank.
I depends on what you plan to do with your collection. If you're going to play it, collect SNES. If you just want to collect, go with Saturn.
Complete rubbish. Considering the type of games you like, a Saturn with the games I listed above, which can all be had for under $25 (a good portion for under $5) would get a TON of play. Of course, so would an SNES.
I would say the games I listed above would be cheaper than that many good/great SNES games, if that means anything to you. You could probably build a good Saturn collection relatively quickly. Do that, then focus on the SNES. Once you have a good SNES collection with most of the "necessities", then go back and work on the more expensive Saturn games. That's my 2 cents.
