Waaaaaitaminute. Were you sending the sound from the Gen 1 to the SCD with a 1/8 stereo cable from the headphone jack to the mixing jack?

You have to do that with a model 1.

Re: Model 1 Sega Gen/CD no sound...
Even with an A/V mod? I tried connecting it the the patch cord to the mixing jack in the back of the Sega CD. The Audio works there, but I still have the graphic glitching.
Here's the sum up:
RF gives video, no sound. Did an A/V mod, video and sound work on Genesis, video glitched on Sega CD (snow in "planet and moon" frame on BIOS screen, heavy graphics glitching on Silpheed).
Cleaned contacts, no change.
Used Model 2 Genesis on Model 1 Sega CD, no graphics glitching. Pinpointed that Model 1 Genesis is at fault.
Checked caps on Genesis, no bulging or popped caps.
Checked connections to RCA for mods, no loose connection or solder joints.
Using RF again at this point still yields glitching, no sound.

Ok, then I dunno other than blaming the Gen 1 for being wonky in some way that hadn't been figured out then.

Re: Model 1 Sega Gen/CD no sound...graphics glitching...
I looked over my post and I failed to mention something.
The graphic glitching only happens with the Sega CD. Regular Genesis games play fine, no glitching whatsoever. It just happens in Sega CD mode...I guess you could call it.
Interesting note, the Sega Classics collection disc (it has Streets of Rage, Columns, etc). When it's on the game selection screen, everything is glitchy. When the game loads, everything is fine...I don't know if I mentioned this before.
So glitching only happens with the Sega CD disc games, not the Genesis games. As mentioned before, my Model 2 Genesis attached to it works fine, no graphic glitching in Sega CD mode.
Will that help to possibly pinpoint it?
