Ok - so I've got a bunch of Saturn images. They are in mp3/iso format but missing the cue sheets. I used the Cue Maker program and then burned the discs. None of them work - in emulator or regular Saturn. On closer examination it appears something is wrong with the iso files. Daemon Tools freezes trying to mount them and CDMage gives the error of "file length doesn't match sector boundry". ISO Buster is able to open them fine, but it doesn't seem to have any repair options.
I find it hard to believe someone made so many utterly craptasic rips that are still floating around. So perhaps something is wrong on my end or with the software I'm using. I only have issue with this particular batch of files - the ones with no cue sheets included. Makes me wonder if they are only named .iso but are in fact some propritary format for some other burning software.
Anyone encounter these files before? Or any other ideas?

I had very similar issues myself. I went ahead and burned some images for which I was getting the errors. However, most of them have worked so far, with the exception of about four that have had sound issues (static sounding audio). I have about 6 or so that I burned today that I will test when I get home tonight and I will let you know.
I have been using Nero to burn the MP3/ISO images, and haven't had any issues yet (the audio issues were burns with Alcohol 120).
Are you using the same media as before (the ones you used for bin/cue format images)? And I mean the same spindle, as I have had issues with the same brand of media but different spindles (some spindles all of the cd's worked, where others none of them did).
There are so many different variables that can cause issues with Saturn games. Hopefully trying to use the same media that worked in the past, and a burning program that works for you, you will get some good burns.
Best of luck to you.

Saturn ISO rips
I had the same problem and tried the slowest burning and they worked. Saturn games are funny if they aren't ripped or burned a certain way they don't work. I used Alcohol 120% or Nero. Also I think you have to convert the sound files from mp3 to WAV or some other format ? I can't be certain its been a long time since I burned a Saturn game. I hope this helps. Also check Emuasylum.com they have a guide for burning Saturn games. Its a great site for info like this.

Tried mp3 to wav conversion with no luck.
I'll try very slow burning later on my laptop (desktop can't go lower then 8x) later to see if it does anything.
I've burned and ripped literally hundreds of other Saturn games with no problems. I usually use Nero for burning iso/mp3/cue and bin/cue as well. CDRwin or Nero for ripping. Only this batch is causing problems. Perhaps the way there were ripped. If I can get it burned correctly I'll do a re-rip properly I think on them.

One thing i do in situations like this... I rename the ISO files to .BIN. I know they are essentially the same type of file, but changing the file extension has worked for me in the past. Not with Saturn games, but with DC games.
Worth a shot. Just rename it, mount it, and test it. Maybe even mount it and then rip it to the computer in whatever format you want... test it then.

Atari 2600 (AV mod), NES, SNES (region switch for PAL), Virtual Boy, Gamecube, Wii (D2CKey), PSX (Stealth V), PS2 (independence exploit w/ 160 GB HDD), Goldstar 3DO, Philips CD-i, Dreamcast, Saturn (racketboy's chip), Sega Genesis 2 + CD2 + 32X + Power Base Converter, Game Gear.
Hmm, not sure what the problem is. All the games I burned today worked (except Need for Speed, I can't seem to get to the initial menu screen). I burned with Nero at 8x, and didn't convert the mp3 files first (I believe Nero converts to WAV on the fly).
You said the images won't mount with Daemon tools, right? Do they mount on Alcohol's virtual drive? If not, try to use nero to burn to an image that Daemon tools supports, and try to load in an emulator. I know the emulators are not 100% compatible (far from it), but you might see if any of your images load up. If none of them do, I would start to suspect the images.
Again, I have to reiterate the media issue. Sometimes the media I have tried will not work at all, even if it is with a brand that has worked in the past.
Also, I guess you haven't mentioned how the games are acting once in the Saturn. Is it just the typical bad burn behavior, or anything different?

I get disc unsuitable for this system message. The same message is also given in SSF - all the region settings were triple checked so I know it is not that. Interestingly even Windows cannot read from the disc.....it is says it is an invalid format or disc it can't read. Also, I guess you haven't mentioned how the games are acting once in the Saturn. If someone wants to give one of the small images (45MB) a try you can download one here:
http://www.sega-saturn.us/down-pub/shin ... p3-fix.rar
I have not altered it, just exactly as I downloaded it. It only includes the iso and mp3s - no cue - which is the same thing with all of the other images of this bunch that don't work right.
Saturn Region Patcher is able to regonize the ISO file just fine as a Sega Saturn game. But beyond that....not much luck with anything.
