After thinking it over more this morning, I think I'll probably still pass. The 3D doesn't hurt my eyes, but it just isn't very good or very appealing. My two main problems with the 3DS have always been:

1) no games that interest me
2) portable device + 3D (+ gyroscope!) = bad 3D

A price drop does not solve either of those problems. More Mario rehashes and ports of old games doesn't really do it for me either. Guess I am waiting for a redesigned unit, which better figure out how to make the 3D effects work/look better from a wider viewing angle. I still don't know how any 3D game can look good when you are required to move the unit around to play, thus losing the 3D effect. Very stupid design.

Wash Rinse Repeat
Nintendo did this before when Virtual Reality was the thing with Virtua Boy. The 3D frenzy now biting them, they take a loss on each portable console sold and hope to make up for it in sales of the games.

Convenient Portable
I still prefer the GBA SP, a portable that fits in the front pants pocket. However I might eventually pick up a non firmware leashed DSLite for trying out the more powerful DS games.

It's still not really caused me any issues.

Anyhow, this news concerns me, I want the system to do well if onl so we get the variety and quanitity of games the DS enjoyed on the 3DS too. The 20 free games is quite nice, although I unfortunately own almost all of the ones they announced already. I enjoy my 3DS, and there are a good few games on the horizon that interest me. I just hope we see a bit more coming to it by the end of the year.

I hope it makes Nintendo drop the price of the DSi XL. I've been wanting one of those. I'd pick that right up for $130. And the DS Lite really out to cost only $75, like the GBA SP did at a much earlier point in it's life span.

How much you want to bet that they increase DSi XL prices to increase 3DS sales?

That wouldn't increase 3DS sales. It would increase DS Lite and regular DSi sales.

Mario was not treated very well at all on his 25th anniversary. That's all I have to say. :(

That's an insane drop so close to release. I'm not surprised at all that once again something 3D is failing to really draw customers in beyond the initial buzz dies down. I mean all those 3D TVs are flying off the shelves too, right?

My girlfriends dad got a 3D TV. He has 2 TV channels that support it, and one of those is pay-per-view. Maybe more people would buy one if there was more stuff that supported it.

That said, the glasses probably don't help the case...
