You insulted the entire forum, it's not a good way to get your point across. Still, there's no reason why we can't discuss this with out the bull shit.
3GenGames wrote:Just because it's not GENERIC METAL POLISH on the label you won't use it? lol!
No. Who said that? No one said that. Clearly, you're not reading posts entirely.
OK, first off,
don't think my tone here is being hostile, but I'd really like to explain this to you. It sounds like you're not completely reading the posts in this thread. You're getting mad because no one wants to try your method. That's not even the case. You're getting mad because people aren't considering what you have to say, BUT YOU'RE GUILTY OF THE SAME THING. And I'm not talking about using just an eraser. I'm talking about using just stove cleaner or just alcohol/electrical contact cleaner. The facts have been presented almost perfectly, but yet you refuse to even consider them.
No one said the stove top cleaner wouldn't work well to clean the carts. In fact, I bet it works great to clean crud off the contacts. What has been said is that it leaves a residue, while electrical contact cleaner does not. You can't argue this, it is just plain fact. You said it yourself in your last post.
3GenGames wrote:The stovetop cleaner also acts as a metal polish.
You don't want to polish the metal, it's not capturing light or made to look nice. It's made to make a good electrical contact. If you're polishing it, then you're leaving behind a residue. Electrical contact cleaner is made for cleaning.... that's right, electrical contacts. It leaves behind no residue. And please understand, just because you can't see something doesn't mean it's not there. If you polish the metal, it wouldn't appear to be dirty because it's shining. But it's not shining because it's perfectly clean, it's shining because it has a residue on it.
For most carts, contact cleaner or alcohol is all that's needed. If the contacts have a lot of grime or corrosion, I could see the need for a stronger cleaning agent. However, in the event you have to use a stronger cleaner, it would be wise to clean it again with alcohol to remove any residues. That's really all that's been said about the matter. I don't understand why people get all bent out of shape when this is explained.

Go on any computer repair forum and ask if stove top cleaner or rubbing alcohol is better to use to clean the old thermal compound off the top of a CPU. You'll be having the same conversation there that we're having here.
Jamisonia wrote: When 2-3 people gang up on you in a forum, like what happened here, it feels hostile.
Maybe that's not the way it was meant to be implied and 3Gens took it the wrong way. Besides, no humility? I've said things on forums before to which multiple people replied with arguments against my point. However, I didn't tell the entire forum they're idiots.
Jamisonia wrote: I'm pointing out that these forums are hostile to other methods of cleaning. Do not forget people were unwilling to give his method a try before he blew up. This is being the slightest bit hostile to the method. What is the point of a forum if nobody will try other people's methods so we can come to an agreement on which method is the best?
Because every time this conversation comes up, Pro Alcohol makes points until they're blue in the face while Pro Stove Top Cleaner or Pro Glass Cleaner get mad and run the conversation around in circles. Pro STC or Glass Cleaner thinks all we are saying is their product sucks. That's not the case. Contact cleaner or alcohol leaves no residue, those other products will. That's all that's ever been pointed out. I don't need to try STC to find that out.
Pro Alcohol makes this point up and down until they're blue in the face, and it feels like talking to a wall. THAT's why Pro Alcohol gets hostile in these conversations. They're not unwilling to see the other persons point, the other persons refusal to see their point get's them angry. And rightfully so. It would take a saint not to get flustered by that. When did 3Gens ever acknowledge any of the points about alcohol/contact cleaner?
And for the record, I'm not pissed at any one. I'm not upset right now. I just want to point this out one last time. Don't even take this as an argument, I'm just pointing some stuff out. That's all you have to say is, "OK" and then do what you wish.
