New Atlus game "Catherine"
Re: New Atlus game "Catherine"
I need to start this soon, but I have little time between Otakon this weekend and iDOLM@STER. Hmmm. The demo was great at least.

I blew a lot of cash last week on some "surprises" for the finds threads, but I will have this soon!

dude it's ... just so amazing. I mean. I purposely avoided the demo and all reviews so I could experience it fresh. I know it's still early. But my mind is blown. This is so much more than I even expected. I just love it.Bradtemple87 wrote:I blew a lot of cash last week on some "surprises" for the finds threads, but I will have this soon!

Wow, this game is so enthralling. I expected a lot from it, and it went above and beyond so far.

Re: New Atlus game "Catherine"
yup. I skipped the demo and avoided all reviews and youtube videos so I'd have only my own preconceptions. Even then I was worried that it couldn't live up to my expectations. So far it has shattered them.
spoilers:
How amazing is it that there's a host to our "romantic horror" movie a la USA Up All Night? How amazing is it that it's called a romantic horror??? There was even a visual reference to The Ring very early in the game. The cut-scenes are incredible. The nightmares are so well thought out... the "we're all turning to sheep" thing, the Church imagery, the fact that the puzzle is about avoiding the world crumbling beneath your own feet, the (biological?) clock ticking away audibly...
I could go on and on, and I've only played for an hour.

I came reeeeeaallly close to beating the game today; I just have about 2-3 more levels to go, but they're brutally difficult.

Re: New Atlus game "Catherine"
alright so I just beat the boss that looks like an ass with a tongue coming out of it. As horrible a description as that might sound, game just keeps getting better. Normally, story is minimal for me. But this story is so well told. And then you've got this brilliant puzzle game that I'm addicted to and want to keep trying, even if I die (multiple times) I'm like "no no ok yeah I know how to beat it THIS time." So great.
