yeah man see Uzimaki. It's stunningly amazing. Seriously. It's not even "horror" as much as it's just OMG WTF is going on batshit incredible.AppleQueso wrote:Never have seen the Uzumaki movie, but I have read the manga, which was completely great (if a tad ridiculous at times.). Junji Ito makes some of the best horror comics around imo.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
An amusing fact about the movie is that it was directed by someone who had previously only really done music videos. I own a copy of the movie, but I haven't read the manga.noiseredux wrote:speaking of J-Horror, which I generally don't like (surprisingly?) have you all seen Uzimaki? That's one brilliant film that I urge all horror fans to see.

I've been craving to see it and by the way, have you guys seen Noroi: The Curse? It's one of the scariest films I've ever seen and it's one of the best horror films of the last decade.noiseredux wrote:speaking of J-Horror, which I generally don't like (surprisingly?) have you all seen Uzimaki? Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical.noiseredux wrote:AppleQueso wrote:I think the worst thing that could be said about The Ring was that it kick-started a flood of really, REALLY lame PG-13 horror films that tried to create a similar mood (and for the most part failed horribly, see Gothika). Something about it just clicked with me (color, lighting, before the sick blue/green thing became an overused cliche) that the original just didn't.
agreed. I know I saw a ton that were really bad.
Oh but I did really like Pulse a lot. It has Kristen Bell. It's based on a script originally written by Wes Craven. It has Kristen Bell. There's an unrated cut that's better than the PG-13 cut. And it has Kristen Bell.
It's based on an ironic stoner comedy. It has Kristen Bell. Alan Cummings plays a goatman and a propaganda-spewing lecturer... and President Truman. It has Kristen Bell. Christian Campbell, who is superior to his sister Neve (who has a small role), plays the tragic pothead Jimmy Harper. It has Kristen Bell. The supporting cast includes Jon Kassir, Ana Gasteyer and Steven Weber. It has Kristen Bell. The songs are catchy and the soundtrack comes with the cast recording of the original LA production. And it has Kristen Bell... including a number where she's in a leather she-devil costume.
And it made me a Christian Campbell fan, which was my only reason for wanting to see Banshee, Trick, Ibid (still unfinished) and eventually Thak You, Good Night.

CAPTAIN AMERICA
I wanted to like this movie, I really did. Lots of people in the theater seemed to enjoy it, but unfortunately I was not one of them. Tommy Lee Jones was good in some parts, completely ridiculous in others (one involves a vehicle and an obvious green screen). The Red Skull is awful to the point of being laughable, and doesn't really do anything evil in the movie besides killing Nazi's; I know, what an asshole. The action scenes are fast and somewhat believable, but they are nothing so spectacular as to make up for the price of admission. The cgi is at sometimes wonderful, and at other times horribly obvious. I think the 3D version would give most people a nasty headache.
The story? The first act is great, but I can't say that for the third act. It's not that CAP is an awful piece of cinema, it's that it is so inconsistent, and that is what keeps it from being good. And unless thing change, don't stick around after the credits for an AVENGERS trailer, which was supposed to be tagged on.

I'm re-watching the first two Xmen movies
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I'd say no. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are something special. Most of his films can't compare. Natural Born Killers comes close to the quality of those films, although he was only the writer on that one.final fight cd wrote:are all QT movies this good?
